Hi
When I try to download a file from Ravens all I get is this:
Quote: | Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /public/downloads/RavenNuke-2_40_00-RC1.7z on this server.
Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
|
Could anyone help me? |

In an effort to thwart bandwidth theft, I have implemented measures to ensure that the download requests are only processed from my site. This mechanism is not compatible with all anti-virus software, download accelerators, and proxies. If you make it through to the download request screen and then get a Forbidden message, the chances are it is a result of one of the three things just mentioned. In that case, you will have to temporarily disable or tweak the settings for those applications to allow the download.

Its on the above page in big bold red letters. |

No, it just means I don't know the answer. Surely someone might be able to provide a little more assistance.
Its hard to debug a problem that I can't see or touch you know. |

I suspect it might be a blocked IP range. Maybe someone next to you in your network "neighborhood" attempted an attack that NukeSentinel(tm) stopped and banned the range that you are in. I'll email Raven with a link to this thread so that he can follow up just in case it is that. |

I don't show your IP being blocked. Are you trying to do a direct download from http://ravenwebhosting.com or are you using the download link from this site? |

I cannot find that IP in any blocked lists or ranges. I will keep looking. Itmt, try accessing this site from http:proxify.com , log in and try the download. |

Also, just to be absolutely positive it's not anything hung up on your end, please clear your cache and remove your cookies for both sites, close all browser instances and open a new browser instance and try again. |

That would not alleviate the cache and cookies as that's ongoing. But, are you saying you were able to d/l it? |

Nope, not able at all..
I first tried at my gamerig, no luck.. Cleaned out all files and still no luck.
During this time I had just formatted my laptop and installed Win7 for test, then installed Firefox and tried again to get this file, still no luck. Tried Explorer 8 and guess what, no luck.
If you mean there still are files on my laptop that could prevent me from downloading, i beg to differ due to the fresh install on a clean HD without any virus programs or anything else then Win7 + Firefox. |

Ok.. I got it now.... At work with my work laptop. Dont get it with the same laptop at home, even though at work it goes trough two virus programs, firewall and several routers.
At home Iv tried
private laptop with Win 7 - no luck
work laptop with XP SP3 - no luck
gamerig with XP SP3 - no luck
And that's without any firewalls, virusprograms.. Just ADSL modem straigt to my PC..
Seems to me this site don't like my home IP |

i smell a government conspiracy
I have ran into that sometimes myself. and seem each time i get something similar to what your talking about it has ended up a ISP issue.
its one of them Internet mysteries i suppose |

No need to beg and no need to differ
Cookies and cache can be store in memory and/or files. It's just good practice to clear them when issues arise . I am going to write a q&d shell/grep program to scan for your IP but normally the standard tools will highlight the issue. Could/Would you run a tracert from your home machine to ravenwebhosting.com and post it? If you're uncomfortable posting it then please PM it to me. |

I actually have it documented when I released it.
# deny from 80.203.0.0/17 - released 4/12/2007
The tracert helps because it tells me it's a site level issue and not a server level issue. So I will keep digging. Thanks. |
