Could you please advice how to remove topic 'reads.'
I would like to have the facility but would like to hide it from visitors.

OK so from the link you sent me I am assuming you want to hide the text displaying the number of reads for news articles?

I believe it is controlled through you theme, so you will need to find it there. I see you are using Autotheme so you might want to ask the theme author.
