There are several Firefox addons that will hilite a nofollow or dofollow link. Does anyone know how to defeat this so that the addons don't work?

Cheers

Why ? People can also easily check the source code and will find out if you use rel=nofollow.

To satisfy my own curiosity and also to prove a point. The rel= attribute is not involved, thanks.

As Susann, sussan said the
"nofollow" is part of the source code, and the add-on is a program just reading the source code. So I see no way of beating it. I also do not understand why it matters.

I thought nofollow was a search engine/spider specific tag anyway.

It matters to me and the engineer I'm working with that is investigating how things work with certain search engines.

My meta tag is set to FOLLOW but some of the links are hilited by the addon as NOFOLLOW on my support site. So, if we can find a way to have them ALL set the same way that's what we're after. If the addon can bypass the FOLLOW then so can search engines.

Well search engines do not "have" to follow any rules. They can do whatever they want.

Are you sure that is just not the way the add-on is written? All search engines do is read text. So you can't really manipulate there behavior. You can only manipulate them in ways that they allow.
