I want a news submitter that lets you submit like fb status

It would be nice if it worked like that wouldent it.

So what are the chances of it working like that?

You can create a javascript that others can embed in their website for yours.

Just to clarify, are you asking for
- an FB status update when a new story is posted?
- the ability to post FB status from your website?
- the ability to submit news at the top of every page on your website like facebook?

There are other scenarios, but it would help (me, at least, and probably others) to understand more about what you're looking for.

An easy way to do that would be to use ping.fm and have it send an email. Ping works not only with FB, but also with Twitter and many other services. But it isn't JS, it would require PHP and TegoNuke Mailer.

I had thought about modifying the Shout Box to be more like a facebook wall. I was thinking using the username to sort the posts and have them post in the users profile while having all the posts viewable on the index like the Shoutbox already does. There are many examples of how to make a FaceBook style wall post on the web.

I always thought that MySpace and FB all ripped the 'wall' idea from combining shoutboxes and guestbooks into one, so yeah, this has been around forever. Then you have the Nuke 'broadcast' which became the most annoying feature ever in a CMS... lol

Actually, if the true use model here is for his social networks to be update whenever he posts a new News article, I would simply use the RSS feature with ping.fm. Just give that ping.fm account the URL of your news feed and set up which social networks you want it to "ping" to, and it just magically happens. That is how my site is set up.
