Hi all,
I'm desperately needing a volunteer to instal a simple news syndication module for phpnuke.
I have tried to figure out what has stopped the module from working but have failed miserably.
If anyone has Sentinal installed but NOT any of the mod_rewrite scripts like google tap or Next Generation could you spare 2 minutes to install this module and let me know whether it works for you?

The module can be found at www.guildofsecurity.co.uk/Syndication.zip

Once installed and you click on the 'syndication' link on the main menu, you should see several samples of how the news will appear on a users website - can you please confirm whether you are seeing these examples or just the bold headers.

I wouldn't normally ask for such help but my news is syndicated to sites which drive over 60% of my traffic and I'm now getting pretty desperate!

And there is NO WAY I could un-install Sentinal after all the attacks it has stopped.

Many, many thanks!

Thank you so very much Scott!
That feedback has proved invaluable as I can now narrow the gremlin down to an apache rewrite_mod ( Next Generation).

I was hoping not to have to un-install this googletap type mod as it is a little involved but my news feed takes presedence as a number of recruitment companies are using it which drives a lot of traffic to the site.

Many many thanks!

Thanks Raven for your kind thoughts.
I have posted on AudioSlaved site and he is busy beavering away trying to trace the problem.
Hopefully we can crack it.
It seems strange as I have block the uses Java script to pull information from another site and this has not been affected.
It is so reassuring that developers and programmers are still going out of their way to help others.

After our troubleshooting it looks as though it may be a problem with your setText javascript function not being there, according to Firefox's javascript debugger, it said that the setText javascript function has not been defined, those are the only js problems it found.

About helping others, that is just how it goes, when I was a newb, Raven and others helped me just like I am helping you (not that you are a newb Wink ), its all about giving back to others, that is how we all evolve and make nuke better together. Smile

I think you might be on the right track there Bill.
According to Firefoxes debugger, there is indeed an unset setText function. This appears to be being generated by a news article post on the site about the the Alexa Toolbar.
This error occurs when checking the source for index.php but not for the news syndication module/index.php

However, when viewing the news syndication page, other 'syntax' errors appear which might help clarify matters - the news syndication page on the site stopping from working and those that have the generated html code on their sites stopping from working.

Now I'm wondering.....
A while ago I tried out the SPAW wysiwyg editer which was quite handy for generating reasonable looking news articles without the need to set it out in html all the time.
I'm wondering now if these news articles are containing 'hidden' text which the syndication module doesn't like - though that does not completely explain why the news index.php fails.
It is something for me to investigate further atleast, now that GT-NExtGEn has been elimnated from the list of possible causes.

Many thanks once again.

Not a problem glad I could help, the last I would want is to lose a faithful NExtGEn user Smile

See you around!
