First off, I apologize if this is in the wrong section. I also apologize if it's been addressed before, I tried searching but I dont know if I have the right terms. Anyway....

The title is pretty self explanatory. I have a forum scroller on my website (seen here: www dot fapclan dot com). The idea is that it shows the latest forum posts. I think it's a default module, and I think everyone here is familiar, so I'll cut to the chase.

The forum scroller only shows posts from forums that are public and viewable by everyone. Since it is a clan site, I use private forums for the members. Is there any way to make the scroller show posts from any forum that is accessible by the user logged in? Is there another module/block that does this?

I'm not very well versed in the coding aspect of anything, so if it means editing a file, I'll give it a shot. Be gentle though.

Thanks for any help.

I believe the center forum collapsing block which comes with RavenNuke(tm) does this (the controlling of what is viewable that is). Now, it is not a scrolling type block, but the code might give you an idea on how to modify what you have.

The forums side block in the upcoming release has forum permission awareness; courtesy of Palbin. It might be better to wait as the release is coming soon, and it would be easier to convert to a scrolling block.

In case anyone was curious, I did find a work around to this that is acceptable for my needs.

I simply changed the forum permissions for the private forums to make them "viewable" (but not "readable") by all.

I'm no expert, but in my tiny brain, this meant that basically the topics could be seen as something that exists. But could not actually be read by anyone without the proper permissions.

The forum scroller could see them, so they appeared there, and I'm good to go!

Thanks guys, I still might check back for that upcoming release of the new forum scroller.
