Hi,
Recently I upgraded from 6.9 to 7.4 with a patched version I downloaded here.
I was using both the content and special sections modules before. But in 7.4 special sections is taken away now. It dosent exist.
When you view the top 10 on my site:
Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login!
A category for the special sections is displayed, but clicking on any of those links dosent work since it's been removed in 7.4.
How do you go about fixing this?
Can those articles be recovered and moved into a new category of the content module automatically? Can the links be repaired easily in the top ten module?
Thanks,
Darrell |

You can still get it from phpnuke club or use the last version from 7.3 I think? |

I don't mind that they did away with it.
I just need the fix for the Top 10 module. Aperantly they did not patch that so that it would stop query'ing the database.
Because it's drawing from my data that's left over from the 6.9 installation. Or something.
Other than installing the function that's been removed, how do you fix it?
Thanks,
Darrell |

Looks to me like you can just remove the whole block of code from the modules/Top/index.php where it starts:
/* Top 10 articles in special sections */ |

Looking at that module I am amazed it doesn't even check for an active status who would have thought? It just looks to see if the articles exist. |

Okay,
thanks. I'll remove it. It just seemed to me like a mistake that someone overlooked....

I think the idea might have been if it was empty it doesn't show no harm done. On the other hand I'd say your right its a mistake. |

That module needs updating as mentioned here but in a related subject some people are having problems with sections articles not getting transfered, the 73-74 upgrade file needs to be modified:

I had 6 or 7 articles in the special sections area. It would have been nice to save them. They were not transferred to the content section by the upgrade script.
It's not a major issue for me personally though. I can probably recreate them from scratch easier than adding them thru phpMyAdmin.
Having two different places for content was kinda nice because I renamed the special sections module to go along with what it contained. That just made the standard main menu easier to manage for me.
Anyway's I guess my only contribution would be that the upgrade script did not move those articles from special sections to content, and the top ten needed a chunk of code removed or commented out.
