Has anyone developed a hack that shows an intermediate page with advertisements ("This site is an advertising supported site") that is displayed when a user clicks on "Read More" in the News module?

If you use Yahoo!Groups, you've prolly seen this functionality when viewing messages. Here are examples/screenshots of the functionality that I've described.

I'm reading a message, and I click on "Next" message

So, does anyone have any ideas or pointers to existing hacks that shows an intermediate page when a user clicks on "Read More" before they can proceed to the whole article? Thanks.

There could be a couple of ways of approaching this. Do you want a splash page (in essence) that stays for a predetermined amount of time and then automatically redirects to the 'read more' page or one that requires the user to click a Continue button of some kind?

When you say splash page, you don't mean popup, right? Best case scenario, I'm looking for an add-on that would be inline so that everything happens within the same php-nuke window.

As for the automatic versus manual redirect, I think a combination would be best. That is, offer the "Continue" link so that users don't have to wait for the automatic redirect which would occur after a set period of time e.g. 30 seconds.

No popup at all. I just refer to a splash page as any page that interrupts the flow. I'll get back to you as I hope others will too.
