I would say its sad but that is a feeling unavoided. Im sure you know, he is in a much better place with much better company. As I like to think... someone needed his assistance much more upstairs. Ill have your family in my thoughts and prayers. Try to smile, hard as it may be, he is now somewhere without pain.

Raven, I will never forget the moment my dad passed away. Like you I was standing by his side holding one hand while my sister held his other. My sister and I lived with him for the month leading up to that day and we really got to know each other once again. It is interesting that people ask why God did this or why God did that... we never really see the big picture while we are here. I look back now and see all the good that came out of something that was so sad for us at the time.

I Did Not Die

Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

Melinda Sue Pacho

My heart goes out to you Raven.

It's so hard to believe that a year ago today I was holding my Dad's hand, talking to him, singing to him, praying for him to go quickly and without suffering. In a few hours will be his time of promotion from his earthly vessel to his heavenly one a year ago today. Just as this time last year brought stress and many new challenges, I am once again faced with a life changing event as I have to grapple with losing my job due to Narcolepsy and accepting some manner of disability retirement. Dad, I really wish you were here for me to talk to. You are forever in my memory and heart!

You and your family are in our prayers. What a glorious time your father must be having now. No aches or pains, no more Parkinson or Cancer. Sitting with the Father, and praising with the angels. One day we will all be there. May the good Lord provide you and your family with an extra dose of peace through this period you are now facing.

'God works in mysterious ways', Gaylen!
Quote:
(Psalms 84:4-7 NKJV) Blessed are those who dwell in Your house; They will still be praising You. Selah {5} Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. {6} As they pass through the Valley of Baca (valley of weeping), They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools. {7} They go from strength to strength; Each one appears before God in Zion.

Put another way, this is the way God strengthens those that are blessed!

I know it doesn't make much sense when YOU are the one sitting in the 'valley of weeping', but the important thing is to get through it, as quickly as possible, and continue on your journey.

Some ppl never get out of that 'valley of weeping', but the ones that do are blessed with more strength. Strength to strength; the more valleys you go through, the stronger you get!

The 'problem' with all this is, there's always another 'valley'... However, God doesn't throw more at 'the blessed' than thay can handle, so get through that 'valley', my friend, and continue down the road... Wink

Thanks Vin, and all the rest of you too! I love how God endourages His children!!

REJOICE IN THE LORD

God never moves without purpose or plan
When trying His servant and molding a man.
Give thanks to the LORD, though your testing seems long...
In darkness, He giveth a song.

*Chorus*
O REJOICE IN THE LORD! He makes no mistake.
He knoweth the end of each path that I take!
For when I am tried and purified,
I shall come forth as gold.

I could not see through the shadows ahead,
So I looked at the cross of my Saviour instead.
I bowed to the will of the Master that day,
Then peace came, and tears fled away!

*Chorus*
O REJOICE IN THE LORD! He makes no mistake.
He knoweth the end of each path that I take!
For when I am tried and purified,
I shall come forth as gold.

Now I can see testing comes from above,
God strengthens His children, and purges in love.
My Father knows best, and I trust in His care;
Through purging, more fruit I will bear.

*Chorus*
O REJOICE IN THE LORD! He makes no mistake.
He knoweth the end of each path that I take!
For when I am tried and purified,
I shall come forth as gold.
