Access is Denied - Only on Patched Versions

My appologies if this has already been addressed and I just could not find it, but with all patched versions of phpNuke from 7.3 to 7.4 and also with Raven's 7.3 customized distribution, I cannot get around "Access is Denied" for my admin account login. I get this error upon trying to login to my admin account (GOD). I have tried everything from removing cookies and temp files to changing the GOD account password, to _____. You name it, I've tried whatever I could find in these forums that even remotely sounded possibly linked. I have even tried starting over from scratch numerous times and with different downloaded dists from this site.

If I re-install from scratch the unpatched versions of these (I even blow away the db and recreate), I have no problems. I just cannot figure out what is going on? I have even tried turning off Norton Internet Security.

I am running all the minimum web server, php, mySQL, etc. versions just fine with everything else that i have worked with. Only the patched versions will not work for me.

I have been at it too long now and recognize that I am in over my head. Can someone please help? I'd like to use Nuke (patched of course) for my family portal.

One thing to check if this is an upgrade on which non-core admin files exist is that the non default admin files have:

if (!eregi("admin.php", $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'])) { die ("Access Denied"); }

after the file credits and not any other variant.

I am now thinking that the issue is one of using Apache 2.x. I was able to get Raven's 7.4 patched version working on my laptop, which was running Apache 1.3.x. I'll post back letting everyone know if that fixed my issues on my main PC where I was experiencing all the problems.

That was it! I blew away Apache 2.x and replaced with 1.3.x and now works perfectly.
