Hi All,
I disabled right click on my website, nuke 7.4 about 4 months ago, and it works great. I've been using internet explorer. Yesterday I was surfing the net and saw a ad for netscape 7.2, so I decided to try it out, after I installed netscape broswer, I check out my website with it, and low and behold, you can right click with that browser, any way to stop this?, I haven't tried it in firefox yet or other browsers. Why would it only stop right clickers in IE and not other browsers? any insight on this..thanks for you time |

You do know that right clicking is easily circumvented by using View Source, right? |

Yes six i'm more like a "guest expert"
In firefox you can actualy download everything from a website thru the "View Page Info" window.
It has a media tab and in that tab is all media from that page listed (images, movies, flash, etc.)
You can click a button there that says "Save as" |

Is there any coding or anything available to disable the view source on browsers? |

LoL! It's an unstated fact of life...
Good programmers write code, and great programmers steal code! |

He who has not 'borrowed' code, may in fact toss the first stone
I prefer to call it 'learning'. hehe
When you come across some code that does pretty much exactly what you were looking for, why re-invent the wheel? And so we all continue to use Nuke...

What about using the code instead of copying it ?

Don't really understand the intent of that DJ... if you use the code, you are copying it. In fact, you can't use it without copying it. Even if you spend an hour typing it verbatim instead of copy/pasting, you have still copied it.
Are we discussing giving credit? By all means I advocate giving code credit... especially for routines that you probably could have written yourself but you ran across code that is already written. You'll notice I said 'borrow' instead of steal, because in my way of thinking, the term 'steal' means you 'borrowed' some code, neglected to give credit for it, and are therefore claiming authorship of it. That is stealing, and it's lame for the following reason: there's no need to steal it. Almost all programmers I've ever met will happily allow you to borrow some code snippets, and in fact are usually quite happy to give the permission! The only people who then 'steal' code by not giving credit back to the author, are those who have egos that are too big for the room, and want everyone to think they're better at programming then they really are (read: kiddiez).

What i ment was:
1) borrow the code
2) make the code faster/optimize
3) release and give credit to original author
You talked about "just the wheel"
But a coder should use the wheel to make it better/faster (step 2)
Give credit to the author and pass it on/back
That way OS has a good reason for coders.
If you just borrow the code then you're no coder (unless the script can't be made better, but that's almost impossible) |
