the full form is Quote: | PHP:Hypertext Preproccesor |
ie first P in PHP stands for itself, second H in PHP stands for and third P in PHP stands for
i think this explains my belief. Its a short of recursion. Hope this helps you.

PHP was originally developed in 1994 by Rasmus Lerdorf, and it stood for 'Personal Home Pages'. PHP at this time was nothing like we know it now. It was basically a bunch of modified Perl scripts and functions designed to allow Lerdorf to gather information about people who came to his website looking at his resume. A year later, in '95, Lerdorf released a public version of it for others to use and develop. The first significant addition to PHP was the ability to process HTML Form data, and mSQL support was also quickly added for a way to store the info retreived by HTML Forms.
In mid 1997, a group of developers took over PHP and re-wrote almost the entire engine into what became known as "PHP 3". As of PHP v3, they dropped the acronym of 'Personal Home Pages' and instead adopted 'PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor' (meaning: dynamically manipulating Hypertext BEFORE it is output to the browser). This brought 'interactive' type web develop to the consumer level (read: you and me ).
