Something has gone wrong with my FAQ. I get this error when I go to it in my CP:

Warning: mysql_fetch_row(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/directory/public_html/includes/sql_layer.php on line 286

I have tried replacing the module folder and the sql_layer file, but I still get that error. When I visit it on my site, the categories are gone.

check how your FAQ Answer and FAQ Categories tables are named. If they are named
nuke_faqcategories
nuke_faqanswer

Then try renaming them to
nuke_FaqCategories
nuke_FaqAnswer

If they are named
nuke_FaqCategories
nuke_FaqAnswer

try renaming them to
nuke_faqcategories
nuke_faqanswer

The various Nuke versions have had issues with the capitalization of the FAQ tables in the database. The default used to be nuke_FaqAnswer and nuke_FaqCategories. When people ported over a DB, some hosts forced lowercase on table names, so obviously a problem and error ocurred. I forget which version FB finally changed this to nuke_faqanswer and nuke_faqcategories, but that's how it is today.

So, check your DB for those two tables. If yours has capital letters in it, change the table name to all lowercase. If it's all lowercase, change it to FaqAnswer and FaqCategories respectively. That should give you your categories back and stop the errors.

I have gotten rid of the error message, but my categories haven't reappeared. If I try to add a category, it is not created. I want my old ones back though with the Q & A's.

No, it is not that. I had that problem a long time ago when my site was installed, and I fixed it. What else could be wrong? Could there be some other file missing? Something misnamed or out of place?

My host had some downtime, and I think my site lost certain files. I have already tired replacing the FAQ modules folder and the admin modules faq file with my back-up. I then replaced the sql_layer to get rid of the error I had. I don't know why my categories aren't back. I saw them in the db.

I tried nuke_faqAnswer and nuke_faqCategories. That worked. Smile Why did it revert back to the old way? Hmm...odd.
