Hi guys,

I'm reading countless threads about this and they all say do not use because it is very buggy. I tried it myself and all I get is the famous Access Denied message.

Has anybody found a fix for this yet? Has anybody successfully got this working? And if so, what are you doing differently than most people here?

I see a huge benefit of having this renamed and I'm surprised people have not found the problem yet.

IMO, it's a total waste of time and is not needed. You can get the same savings from just protecting it in .htaccess and/or Chat's patches.

I agree with you totally Raven. I use both methods above. Plus NukeSentinel.

I was just getting at that most attacks are against this one file. Like so...

Quote:
http://www.yoursite.com/admin.php?blahblahblah...hack attempt......blahblahblah

NukeSentinel of course catches this, but what if that file didn't exist at all? No resources would be used, no log files written to, no emails sent out, no re-directs.......no effect on your site whatsoever.

That's sort of what I was getting at when I mentioned above about seeing the benefit behind it.

The resources on the server side still have to look at the url and determine if the file exists. Then, if it does not, it has to redirect to a 404 page. You can program NS to only email the admin and that overhead is miniscule Wink

It's really 6 of 1 , 1/2 dozen of another. Unfortunately, this was just another pathetic effort on the part of FB - Symbolism w/o Substance!
