Is this ip check reiable

I click on check IP in forum and I see..

used by (member1)

used by (member2)

That means it's one person creating 2 accounts correct?. Is this thing reliable?

Not necessarily. It could be that 2 users are with the same ISP and got assigned the same IP at different times. If the dates are close together, then it's more likely the same user, but you don't know that for sure. If your logs display the mac address then you would know for sure.

dang uh oh I hope I'm right because I banned someone because I thought he was someone else I banned earlier. How exactly would I check mac address..

Odds on for that would be slim....
Our parrot site and also my gaming squad often have same ips diff users simply because the members are both in the household....ie father and sons are squad members.

I gave had the occassion to actually have to add an other family member manually as they both share a common email a/c

if its the same household then I'm fine with that. If I ban the son then I don't want the father or brother using my site anyway. This guy keeps saying he's not this person that I had problem with. So does that mean for sure its coming from one house?

Nope. The chances of getting the same IP are not as remote as one might think. It would not happen often, but it very wel can and does happen.

do you ever look in the nuke_user_temp ?I do. It´s sometimes helpfully and I feel free to delete some user if they use special names or other things.

Use my Resend_Email script for complete control over the temp file.

Susann mentioned about managing the nuke_user_temp table. My Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! application will allow you to do that.
