So what does this acronym stand for exactly?
I think I am correct in assuming that 'chmodd' is the terminoloigy used for changing the privalages of a file on a server...Correct?...(.ie whether a user can edit, delete a file etc?). |

Kevin,
I seem to recall that there should be a CHMODD change when Nuke Was Installed...I dont think I didn it though...Do you know what it was?...I am checking back, but cannot see what it may have been just yet.
I think it was to do with something like Ultramod or something. |

That's usually only necessary if you have a script that allows uploading (e.g. file uploads or photo gallery). It might request that you do that for a configuration file or something, but it doesn't sound familiar. |

I found it:
On the 7.6 install.txt file, it reads:
Installing the Package
----------------------
Unzip the package into the directory you want to use on you web
server, if you're unsure where that is, ask you system administrator.
Now go to the directory where you uncompressed all files and edit the
file "config.php". Change all the fields until you are happy with the
changes and they fits the need of your web site. Give special attention
to the database configuration section. When you have finished to edit
config.php file change to the /sql/ directory and there is a file called
"nuke.sql" this file contains the commands to build the database structure,
tables and the default data.
If you're using a software like phpMyAdmin go to step 3.
1) Create a database called, for example, nuke:
mysqladmin create nuke
2) Now fill the databases with the tables in nuke.sql file:
mysql nuke < nuke.sql
3) In order to use the ultramode.txt news file please be sure to chmod 666.
This file is used to show news from your site in some old programs and
frontends and is reserved to future use in PHP-Nuke. For backend use
backend.php file instead. |

Admin, preference, Activate ultramode?
"Ultramode is a plain text file located at root dir of your site. By default this value is set to NO. If you change this, be sure to CHMOD 666 the file in order to write it. In this file will be the last 10 news headlines of your site with assorted info, fields (or news) separated by %%. This file is used to let other sites put your news on their site. The best method is to deactivate this feature and use backend.php file, which is in RDF/XML format. " |

Yes. Not many use ultramode, AFAIK. You can remove the link from the footer. If you wish to allow RSS feeds of your news, you can leave backend.php. |
