Ok...I don't do this every day (in fact, never, so far), so please don't laugh.
I need to add an additional admin to my website (RN7.6/NukeSentinel(tm) 2.4.2pl3). What I have been trying it going to edit admin which executes this op:
Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login!
However, I get a blank white screen, except for the words "Illegal Operation"
When I go to NukeSentinel, I also notice that the :
Admin Auth List
Scan for New Admins
Database Maintenance
are all set up such that I am unable to select them, so something is "up" but not sure what.
Any ideas what might be causing this? Is there some special way to log in as super user (GOD) that I do not know about? I will be honest and say I have not had to log on ad GOD since I created the site, so have no idea how to even do that.
Thanks for your help....spurt |

But that's what you need to do...you must be logged on as a super user to add other administrators. Only the GOD super user can add other administrators. Once you've added it in the Edit Authors admin function, THEN go to NukeSentinel and scan for new admins and add the new admin to the admin auth list. |

Yes...but I cannot get logged in as God. (I do not know how). How do you log in as super user? I did that once when I built the site, and never since.
I assume if I get on as GOD, then I will not get the Illegal Operation Error, but I cannot seem to get to the login screen for super user.
Ideas? How, exactly, do you do that (assume I know nothing, which is close).
Thanks!!!!!

That url works fine...it is when I go to "edit admins" that I get the illegal Operation error. I don't know if there is some other way to be logging in as good.
I can definitely get to the admin area...I just can get to the point that I can edit admins. |

That happens when you haven't setup Sentinel to recognize that you are an admin. Are you signed on as the super (God) admin? |

Well..I "think" i am. When I log in to my site, I log in as myself, which has admin capabilities on the site. I have not been able to log in to the name of the "GOD" user I originally set up. It never lets me (and I know the password...it just tells me there is no such user) |

That's the problem. The only user who can edit admins in the God user. Use phpMyAdmin to change your admin user to be the God user. |

To log in as the 'god' admin you need to log-in from yoursite.com/admin.php as kguske said in his post.
If the page refreshes and presents you with the log-in page again then either your username or passord is incorrect. |

spurtus, using phpMyAdmin, go to your nuke_authors table and change the "name" property to "God". Do this only for the admin that you want to have these priviledges. |

When I connect to: http://www.circle-of-tyrants.com/admin.php, I do get in just fine. It takes me to the normal Administration Menu.
My problem is that when, once in the Admin Menu, I click on Edit Admins, I get the blank white page, except for the words: Illegal Operations on it (see image).
I apologize if I am not being clear. Thanks for all the help. I believe I could go into the DB, and make the person I want to be an admin, GOD, however, I am going to be turning this site over to someone else to admin, and I won't be around to do this stuff, so just trying to make it work for them, after I am gone. They are even less technical than I, if that is possible.

By default, the changing of admins requires the God account |

Yes. I am logged in as the GOD account when the above happens. |

One thing I notice in Sentinel admin, it says:
HTTPAuth Requires "register_globals" to be ON
What does this mean? Is this a setting I can control? Does this mean something is wrong? ALso what should .htaccess be chmod'd to?
Just clutching at straws here. I went and used you pwchange script to change the GOD user pw again, but to no avail...still get Illegal Operations when I go to Edit Admins. |

Possibly you can control it, if you have access to php.ini - it is a PHP configuration.
Something may be screwy with the permissions. Clear your authors table and create a new God account through your admin page |

ok..now this sounds scary. Are you saying delete the entire nuke author's table? ANd then, I would assume, I just connect to mysite.com/admin.php, and set a new GOD user? Correct?
Just making VERY sure before I go that far.
thanks! |

Empty the table... which would clear all the data inside. Don't delete the table itself |
