Forum Post Length Limiting Problem

This is confusing to me since in some areas of my forum I can post longer posts. But it seems after doing all the patching etc I am now limited to post length on some (not all) topics on my board. I have checked in the Fourm Admin under Nuke and there are no settings to change for this. Anyone have any ideas what files and where to edit or look in them that I can check for what may be limiting my post lengths in certain areas and not all areas ???

***Note problem was noticed in New catagories and New Forum topics I created since the patch upgrade of 7.6.***

I suspected as much.

I'm not sure of how to properly address this as I believe this problem to be specific to the new methodologies for defining text and blob columns in MySQL.

I think what 64bit was trying to tell you is that 4.1.x is old and outdated, thus causing this problem. You should ask your host if it would be possible to upgrade to 4.2.x or 4.3.x.

Actually I miss-read what you were talking about. I guess I need to finish my redbull before reading questions. I thought it was PHP version. 4.1.11 isnt that old, 4.1.14 is the newer version.

Yeah, it's new.. The problem is that it handles blob and text fields differently from 4.0. What I mean is that it has this habbit of truncating long input in cases where the size is of the field not defined in MySQL. I've heard about this issue before (where, I have no idea) but I'm not sure how to address it.

Actually, I think you are going to see this kind of problem with any version of MySQL after 4.0.x

It is kind of strange that your host would be running MySQL 4.1.x given that the PHP API is only 3.x

The ideal scenario would to run PHP 4.4.0 and MySQL 4.0.23 - 4.0.25, but that's just my opinion given the issue that you will inevitably face with MySQL 4.1.x as well as any later PHP Version (such as 5.0, which is not compatible with the Forums module for example).
