You may have noticed that I haven't been near as attentive as I usually am. My folks (from Indiana) always stay with us for a couple of weeks during Thanksgiving. My dad (80 years old) has battled malignant skin cancer for many years. He gets his treatments here in Kansas. During a routine exam this time the surgeon found a lump in his neck. We've been running around getting tests and biopsies and the specialist called a few hours ago. It's malignant (non skin) cancer.
Next step is to get it and several of the lymph glands removed and more biopsies. Depending on the results, it's 1 of 2 possibilities. If the cancer was isolated in the non lymph gland, then that's the positive and no radiation. However, if it's the other, then he will have to undergo radiation and possibly more.
Please be praying for the surgeons to have wisdom and expertise as they diagnose and treat him. Be praying for his strength and that of my mother and the 4 children, grandchildren, etc. Above all else, please pray for his salvation as he does not know Christ.

Oh, Heavenly Father
We come to You tonight in prayer for Gaylen and his family. To ask that You would work through the doctors to heal his father and bring him comfort in this troubling time. We also pray that he will come to know you and love you as we do. I pray you'll be with the family, from the eldest to the most youngest of them. They will need you for strength and guidance.
In Christ Jesus name ....... Amen!
Gaylen, I'm also going through a situation like this. My sister (also in Indiana)that just turned 34yrs. old has been told she has lung cancer and the cancer has moved into her lower back. She has two teenage daughters, 13 & 15 the kids now stay with my father. She refuses to stop smoking and refuses to come to Christ.
I would like everyone to remember her in prayer also.
God Bless,
Scott |

Heavenly Father I ask that you would comfort families in these times of sadness and stress. Please help with the encouragement to come to you Heavenly Father. Help those who do not know you to come to you. Place something or someone in their paths to show them they Way. We praise your Holy name and ask all these things in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
God bless you and your family Gaylen. God bless you and your Family Scott. |

Gaylen, your faith is your strength. Having lost my father 40 years ago, my mother 10 years ago, my beloved son 5 years ago and my daughter currently battling leukemia, I know the story of "The footprints in the sand". It tells of the one truth that's important to me - He will carry you over the hard times, if you let Him. Our prayers are with you and your family. Steve, Mary and Micki |

Gaylen,
After my 8 yr old son went through 4 brain surgeries for a malignant pineo blastoma, had two strokes during surgery, had a maximum lifetime radiation treatments and 6 rounds of chemo, the doctors told us that his blood levels would not return to the bottom of the normal levels for at least 9 months.
We had been doing all kinds of research on cancer treatments, homeopathic, herbal, whatever we could get our hands on. We wanted to try an herbal tea, called essiac tea, and available in pill form through many of the herbal dealers around. It was developed in the 1920's from an indian recipe, by a nurse who was named caisse (the tea's name backwards). She was treating people for cancer with it, and having success. Our doctors told us not to start using it until 30 days after chemo and to return in 90 days for his first checkup.
So we waited 30 days, and started him on the tea. after another 60 days we returned to children's hospital in denver and the doctors were asking us what we were doing. We told them just E-Tea and extra vitamin E, and they said that his blood levels were in the middle of the normal range and they had never seen this before.
I don't know how mainstream your dad's perception of medicine is, but I wanted to share this with you, because it sure seemed to stimulate my son's immune system and help him. I'm not a salesman for anything other than the Holy Spirit, and that's free, and I do hope and pray that your father will receive Jesus. Of all of the emotions that cause our bodies to release hormones, LOVE is the emotion which will stimulates us into releasing the most healing and balancing of all the hormones.
Surround your dad with love, and regardless of the outcome, he will be OK. |

My prayers go out to you and your family. My father was diagnose with cancer 5 years ago. He had throat cancer. I use the word "had" as in past tense because through prayer God can do anything and everything except fail. My father had major surgery, chemo & radiation treatments. Two years ago he was retest and there was no sign of cancer in his throat nor body. Gaylen this prayer is for your father.
Heavenly father in the name of Jesus go to Gaylen's father lay your hands on his neck and do not remove your hands until the cancer has been removed from his body. Lord you said the faith of a mustard seed could move a mountain. Lord I have faith in you and I know you are a doctor in our times of sickness. Lord Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus go to Gaylen's father and allow him to witness and testify to the miracle you shall work in his life by casting out the malignant demon known as cancer. Lord I ask these things of you in Jesus' name. Amen
singing: In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus we have the victory. In the name of Jesus, in the name of Jesus satan you have to flee. |

Not that I can change how you are feeling right now but my father was found to have cancer a couple and half years ago. The emotions swing greatly as I remember his ordeal and had it not been for the prayers of others like yourself and the others here I would have gone completely mad.
I pray that your fathers outcome is much better then my father's was but know this, no matter how hard the road gets God will always be walking it right beside you and giving you the comfort, peace, and love you will need to make it thru this time.
Your Friend,
Bob Marion |

Gaylen, my father-in-law just had multiple surgeries and he's almost 79. It was 11:00 at night and I was heading off to bed - I was at home with the kids. I decided to say a prayer.
About an hour later my wife called to say that things went perfectly. However, the surgeon told her that he was having problems and decided to stop and say a prayer. After that he calmed down and was able to unblock an artery he was having problems with.
Needless to say I had goosebumps and was thrilled at the same time! He's now home with a pace maker and doing great.
Prayer to Saints Cosmas and Damian
Dear twin brothers,
You both died as witnesses to the Lord you loved. Sometimes you miraculously healed the ailing bodies of your fellow human beings. You also managed to cure the souls that suffered from unbelief and sin. Help surgeons in their delicate work, especially when there exists more danger than usual. Remind them to invoke often the Lord of Life while not forgetting to do their part to save or better the lives of their patients. |

Just remember folks, that there is a sermon in your mouth. So confess the positive. Seems there are more than two here that can come to agreement that this thing is halted and rebuked immediately.
Raven, you and yours in my prayers, as always. Forget my mail, that was before I saw this. Keep your faith strong and send the enemy to flight.
In His Love,

This is so awsome! Thanks so very much for all these prayers and supportive posts. Just a further update. The initial surgery is now scheduled for 12/31. This is to remove the tumor and the surrounding lymph nodes to see if the cancer is isolated or not. Also, we see a cardiologist tomorrow to determine if his heart is strong enough to withstand the 7 hour surgery. |

I wish for you that your Father overcomes this burden with little discomfort.
Love well your Father now and feel only positive thoughts for him.
I lost my Father 17 years ago to Lung Cancer, I miss him still.
Lord of Hosts, remember strongly Gaylen's Father today and bring him comfort and health. Ease also the burden his family feel at this time and share your love and healing with them.
Warm thoughts from Australia. |

Raven,
I am so sorry I missed this thread. My heart goes out to your and your family right now.
Heavenly Father, I thank You for fathers. I thank You that You are the ultimate Father to us. I lift up Gaylen's earthly father to you now. I pray for healing in his body. I pray for strength for his family. I ask that Your power be shown in this man's life.
In Jesus' name, Amen. |

I accepted Christ on April 10, 1979. Through all these years I have not been able to speak directly to my Dad about Christ and the simple plan of salvation - until yesterday . He not only allowed me to share Christ, but we shared much more. He didn't accept Christ - yet - but the Holy Spirit is working in his heart. Please keep praying - it is working!! And for the outpouring of prayer and supplication, mortal words are not enough, but Thank You for everything!
Nothing Is Impossible
I read in the Bible the promise of God,
That nothing for Him is too hard;
Impossible things He has promised to do,
If we faithfully trust in His Word.
Chorus
Nothing is impossible when you put your trust in God;
Nothing is impossible when you're trusting in His Word.
Hearken to the voice of God to thee:
'Is there anything to hard for Me?'
Then put your trust in God alone and rest upon His Word;
For ev'rything, O ev'rything,
Yes, ev'rything is possible with God.
The Word of the Lord is an anchor secure
When winds of uncertainty blow;
Tho man in his weakness may falter and fail,
His Word will not fail us we know.
'All things are possible,' this is His Word.
Receive it, 'tis written for you:
Believe in His promises, God cannot fail,
For what He has said, He will do.
Creator of all things, with infinite pow'r.
He spoke! They appeared by His mouth;
Impossible things are not known unto Him,
He made us, He ruleth the earth.

THAT'S GREAT!
It seems to me the people we are closest to are usually the hardest to talk to about Christ.
Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him and he with Me.
Quote: | You've help him turn on the light, now keep leading him toward the door! |

Amen, and again I say, AMEN! Thanks to all and we covet your prayers and thoughts even more. We are continuing to pray for my dad's salvation as well as his healing, if the healing would be God's will. Monday is his chemical stress test and heart echo to see if his heart is strong enough for the surgery. If so, his surgery will be on New Year's Eve day. Please keep my mom in your prayers too as this is taking its toll on her too. |
