Hey all,
Just installed Nuke 7.6 patch 3.1 with CNBYA and Sentinel too.
All works cool, but I am not able to change the name of my admin.php file
When I change the name, the admin panel looses eveything below the main menu icons.
Anyone else experienced this and know of a fix? |

steve369, when you have been around these forums awhile you will see that other very experienced "nukers" say that renaming your admin file is of little use with Sentinel's HTTPAuth feature (or CGI version). As you can see, there are issues with renaming it... |

Thanks fo your reply Montego.
My last installation was using 7.6 with patch 3.0 and Sentinel 2.3.2 I am able to change the name of the admin.php without any problems.
I am not sure what Sentinel's 'HTTPAuth feature (or CGI version)' that you quote, is all about, but I am almost certain I am not using this.
Are you suggesting that my latest installation should be 'treated differently' because it is 7.6 with the newer 3.1 patch and so does not need the admin.php file renaming? All the advise I have seen in the past suggests otherwise, (even the notes in the config.php file say to rename the admin.php file).
Also, I am using Sentinel 2.3.2 on this new installation and wonder if this is OK or needs upgrading. If there is an upgrade for this, do you know exactly where I can down it from? |

Since this is a new site, I would highly recommend using the Distro package by Raven..... |

Yes, since this is a new installation, i would highly recommend RavenNuke76 as it already comes fully patched and with the latest NukeSentinel already installed. In addition, it has excellent installation instructions to walk you through setting up HTTPAuth as well to protect your admin.php file.
Why do all that work on your own when someone with as much experience as Raven has already put it all together. If you can wait a few days/week, you may even want to wait for version 2.0.0. But, even then current 1.5.0 is an excellent choice. |

Agreed! I've also read that you can delete your admin.php file from your server when your not using it, then re-upload it when you need to log in. A pain, but worth it for the super paranoid, like me and most others on here probably. |

To be quite honest, I would doubt very seriously that any of the experienced nukers around this site do this! With a 3.1 patched nuke with the latest NukeSentinel protecting you, there really is NO need! |

Uuughhhh.... you need a better Host!!! I know, I know, you are probably tired of us saying that, but there is no excuse for not allowing .htaccess. It severely hampers your ability to manage and control your site. I'd switch to Raven Web Services, LLC. I can tell you from personal experience that there is nothing like hosting with such a knowledgable guy! |

I know, I know. I do plan on switching once my contract ends. I'd much rather give my money to someone who really deserves it too.
But in the meantime I'm learning as much about Nuke by the things I'm unable to do w/this server as much as the things i can do w/it.
Cheers |
