Edit phpBB to auto show name deleted user

I am planning on going in and doing a rewrite to my phpbb to make it autoshow the name "Deleted User" when it can't match a posts user ID to an available user ID in the meber database.

Has anyone tackeled this kind of edit to the forums before?
Anyone have any idea which files I will need to mess with to get this to work?

I am doing this as it is to big a pain to allways go in and change all occurences of a user ID to a user ID for "Deleted User" when I delete a user from membership.

Mmm I thought there was a recent addon to do just that. It's been advertised on a couple of Nuke sites

I've hunted high and low and I can't find anything of that type. I would love it if there is one as it would save me a bunch of work.
