please can someone explain to me how you administer and operate the subscription function on phpnuke 7.6
i am using php version 7.6 with cnbya and my site has been running ok with me making most modules available to all users and some modules restricted to only those who register for a user name etc.
I now want to make certain modules only available to usres who have registered and pay a subsequent subscription fee.
as the site administrator, when i create a new module and try to activate it, i am asked Who can View This? and then given 4 options about who can view the module, (either All Users, Registered Users Only, Administrators Only or Subscribed Users).
The problem is that if I currently make a module only available to Subscribed Users, i do not see a way of me (as the administrator), modifying a users account after thay have made a payment, (say for example via paypal), and upgrading them to a Subscribed Users status which would then alow them to view the modules restricted to Subscribed Users only.
I have searched all the admin menu options but fail to see how you can make a regustered user a subscribed user or downgrade someone whos payments have lapsed to just a regular Registered User'.
Am I missing something here? |

Never used it myself, but I think you will need to use something like NukeTreasury.

I'm not sure about cnbya, but with nuke 7.6, if you want to make a registered user a subscriber or remove subscriber status...
In Administration Menu/ Modules Section, click on Users.
In the Edit User Field put the nickname of the registered user, select Modify and click OK.
The User Record will display.
In the 15th and 16th field choose, Subscriber User (yes/no) and Subscription Period (1-10 years).
Save the record and your done.
Hope that helps. |

I've had a quick look at my installation of CNBYA and the option to make a registered a subscriber doesn't appear to be there.
Another way might be to create a group and add users to that. You can set a date for when they will expire, so that should do the job.

In one of my installations I just have standard 7.6, no CNBYA, and I can find what CodyG suggested, but in my installation with CNBYA 4.4.2 the Users option in Admin is replaced by the Edit Users option of CNBYA.
If you modify users in CNBYA you don't have the option to change the user to a subscriber.
Ann what version of CNBYA are you using?

Hmmm...
'CodyG', although your imformation was helpful and solved my initial problem, there are 2 small things I have noted.
firstly the minimumn 'Subscription Period' i can select for a registered user is 1 year, so i am wondering if i can make other 'Subscription Period' catagories in the drop down menu section thingy, so i can offer members shorter membership, (like monthly or quaterly etc)?
also, when i modify a registered user to become a subscribed user and click 'save changes', the end of their registered MSNM & Yahoo IM names is curtailed. Do you know about this 'bug' and if so, how to fix it?
By the way, i am using CNB Your Account 4.4.2
thanks again. |

The sub period can most likely be enhanced, however, I haven't anytime today to figure it out and maybe my php skills are not up to it.
Groups, as found in the most excellent RavenNuke, and mentioned by jackec above, is a terrific addon. You can specify the exact date of expiration.
Although Groups has an expiration list, I've written a little script that will output Group expiration dates, ie: which members expire in 30 - 60 - 90 days. Handy for when you want to send email to encourage renewals. I'll see if I can't spruce it up for public consumption and post it here abouts sometime soon.
I've heard about the IM names thing, but not up on it atm. Perhaps someone else can jump in with an answer for you.
Have a happy nuking day! |
