Hi All,
Looking at all the wonderful tries and fixes I figurered posting here might help me This problem has been reported by many people, and I'm sure there's many more who simply don't realise it is missing!
I have installed 2 other versions (older ones) in the past and they show me an admin block and waiting content on the left side, when logged in as an admin. Now, I have 5 admins running the site and none of us see these blocks.
They're there though...I mean, they are activited and look exactly the same as in my older sites, but they just don't show!
Some info:
running 6.8
theme spacepilot (althoguh the problem was there also before this theme)
installed through Fantastico (cpanel)
Anyone has a clue? Maybe you could lead me through some code to check for?
Thanks a lot!
(I will definatly post a fix in the other forums as well....or a link ) |

So if you change your theme to DeepBlue you still have the problem? Please post a url to your site. |

Did it ever work?
Were the other sites installed using fantastico?
I am assuming you can actually get to the Admin panel? When you click on Edit (for the Administration block) do you see the code that produces the block? Are permissions set to Administrators Only? |

No, it never worked.
Yes, the other sites were installed the simular way, however, they were running on different servers, and nuke was probably an older version (it's been quite some time ago when I did this..)
Yes, the admin panel works, as a matter of fact, everything works except this issue and the never-solved-avatar issue, but I don't find that very important at the moment. Your wonderfull guestbook (thanks for that) chat etc. All works.
This is the code I see
<strong><big>·</big></strong> <a href="admin.php">Administration</a><br>
<strong><big>·</big></strong> <a href="admin.php?op=adminStory">NEW Story</a><br>
<strong><big>·</big></strong> <a href="admin.php?op=create">Change Survey</a><br>
<strong><big>·</big></strong> <a href="admin.php?op=content">Content</a><br>
<strong><big>·</big></strong> <a href="admin.php?op=logout">Logout</a>
It's the same as the older versions. Yes permissions are set to admin only, and TYPE says SYSTEM.
Everything tells me it 'should' be there... |

Hi Raven,
Thanks for all the hard work. It is still not fixed, and for all those looking for a fix I'll be happy to work together with you to get it fixed in the end.
However, on another forum someone gave me an improved version of the admin block called SN admin block. It works like a charm!!
...again, if you still would like to help the other 1000 peopz with this problem, I'll be there...
Thanks again! |

What 1000's of others? This is the first I have heard of this and I ran 6.8 w/o any problem. Consider upgrading to at least 6.9. Did you try what I suggested in my PM to you? Deactivating all the blocks and then adding them back 1 by 1? Have you looked at your server error logs to see if there are any errors being reported? |

Yes, I replied to it too. I did test it and it didn't appear either. No, I did not check any server logs yet...I'll see if I have a minute and let you know.
Well, the first time I posted it was on nukecops. Do a search and you'll see that many people ran into this issue, especially the ones upgrading to other versions like 6.9.
The thing is, I guess, that also a lot of people don't realise it's missing. It would have to catch your eye being in the block module... So, my guess is there are many out there who don't even realise it's not there...
I've replied already to several of the posts with this 'option' .... |

well, I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it,. but my lods are flooded with these messages
[Fri Dec 26 13:18:02 2003] [error] PHP Warning: fclose(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/achterde/public_html/site/mainfile.php on line 514
[Fri Dec 26 13:18:02 2003] [error] PHP Warning: fwrite(): supplied argument is not a valid stream resource in /home/achterde/public_html/site/mainfile.php on line 512
This is the code:
$content = "%%\n$row[title]\n/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=$row[sid]\n$row[time]\n$row[aid]\n$row2[topictext]\n$row[comments]\n$row2[topicimage]\n";
fwrite($file, $content);
}
Is this what you're looking for, and if not , any idea what this is?
Thanks  |

Change the permissions on ultramode.txt to 777. That will clear that up. As to the other, I have literally installed and/or upgraded well over 100 sites and never had, nor heard of, this issue until now. And, I just put a virgin site up and it and I cannot reproduce this. Strange. |

Hi Raven,
Thanks for the ultramode tip. See if that fixes it
The only difference I can think of between your installs and mine, is that these use an installscript from cpanel.
Well sure. Now you came this far of helping me, and others too, I don't want to stop you. Again, right now it's about 1:00 midnight, so peops will go to bed soon
Just... ah well, you understand hehe. Please be carefull... |
