Can't access main index page - Access denied

I have just installed a beta site in a subdomain of my main site and everything seems to work just fine except that I get a blank Access Denied page for the main index page. Any ideas? Everything else seems to work fine.

BTW this is Raven's 7.6 distro.

Check the nuke URL in the admin preferences - does it show the subdomain correctly?

Yes it does have the correct subdomain in the preferences. However, I spoke too soon saying that everything else seemed fine. I also cannot access the forums config control panel. It just comes up a blank page.
