I have just started to encounter a problem with the forums on my nuke sentinel 7.6 patched 3.b site
I went to move a topic then i got the following error

Quote:
Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /modules.php on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.34 Server at www.lwclan.co.uk Port 80

I have also discovered that i am unable to delete the topic as well.
yet i am able to delete the posts ok.
All other admins also seem to have the same problem.
the above all worked ok before and nothing has been added to the site for while.

Also in the url for the site i get the above error's on it says.

http://www.my-URL.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=modcp

and on my test site when i go to do the same the url is diff after the wite address

http://www.TEST-URL.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=modcp&sid=bc48c891d59f7210afb8e85cbc1fc00d

is the 1st one meant to have &sid=bc48c891d59f7210afb8e85cbc1fc00d after it

K i have just created a NEW forum , using a different database ,, to see if i got the error on an empty database,, ( the only common thing to my main webby is the web host ) and yes i am getting the exact same errors.
what can be causing this
could it be anything to do with htaccess ?

I just saw this for the first time. Sorry it's taken so long for someone to respond.

The sid is the session id and is not always present. I'll ask the obvious. Have you checked the forum permissions to make sure that you have the correct permissions assigned for the group?

Raven i am using the god account for the webby.
I am logged into the webby and forums as admin.
My FORUM permission level for my account is "administrator"
I am also in a group called "admins" which are set to be moderators for every section in the fourm. and are allowed access.

i am able to access the forum admin rename forums , change permissions , do the lot,,but yet i can not do a simple thing like move or delete a topic SadSadSad

I'm seeing the above problem as well. Mainly it's when attempting to edit posts and it's very intermittent. I've checked the permissions on modules.php and they're set to '644' and I'm not sure what else is causing this problem. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Are you on a host with php as cgi? or php as an apache module.
Create a file called phpinfo.php and put the following in it.

<?php
phpinfo();
?>

Upload it to your server root directory and then browse to that file. ie: http://yourdomain.com/phpinfo.php

This will give you lots of information about your php setup.

In the third row do you see this? Server API CGI
If so, then you might be having mod_security rule issues.
I just went through this myself. There was no way I could edit usergroups or, as it turned out, move forum topics. I had a little talk with my host and they changed their mod_security rules.

Also, be sure and remove that file when you're done. It is being used in some latest rounds of cracks.

I'm seeing Server API as Apache. I will enter a ticket with my hosting company and see what's up. Thanks for the help and I'll report back what I find.

worship Raven ... for sure I should have mentioned deleting the file.

hmmm... apache, eh? Then I'm clueless. I only ran into persistent module.php 403s because of my shared hosting mod_security and php as cgi.

I recently had a user who was getting persistent module.php 403s using NukeBlog ver1 and no other user could replicate it. Perhaps she used the word union.

Are you getting random 403 errors? Pages cured by refreshing or trying again later? There was another forum around here somewhere ....

Depending on your users, you might want to try editing the 403 page. The term FORBIDDEN, without more than a path for an explanation, has caused misunderstandings and drama among my new users.

Have a happy nuking day.

Update!

Hosting Company got back to me. The relaxed some permissions with mod_security and it appears to be working now! Thanks for the input. Now to upgrade my install!
