Private Message - problem sending

Ok, typically I pride myself on finding the answers before having to ask...
And I have seen several things similar to this - somewhat - but none that have hit it dead on.

I have a 7.4 site that was recently upgraded from 7.0. On the old site, Private Messages were disabled and not in use, on the new site after turning them on one can read their previous Private Messages (back from the days of 6.9 when they were on pre-upgrade to 7.0), but sending a message yields merely a blank page within the frame - the headers all get read but nothing actually gets sent, nor does anything show up in the "Sent Items" folder.

Any ideas?

Other info: Nuke Sentinel 2.2 (but contrary to most forum posts I am not blaming it on Sentinel... lol)

Patched 3.0, etc.

well my guess is that the update went wrong somewhere...you also updated the files?

I am thinking the same thing, but the data structure in the tables looks EXACTLY the same as the 7.4 sql setup. I have tried repairing the table, tried even emptying the table (thinking that there may have been something hung up in the table).

Now I am digging in the code a bit, trying to figure out what other tables are involved with the nuke_bbprivmsgs table. Have cleared out nuke_bbprivmsgs and nuke_bbprivmsgs_text.

This also happens across themes, eliminating the idea that it might be theme dependent.. Of course I only tried Deep Blue and Fiapple, but hey if it doesn't work in Deep Blue, something is amiss.

I did update the files in the upgrade, but I also copied over the original 7.4 files on the modules/Private Messages and then uploaded the 3.0 patch on just that module as well - no go.

Wondering if its not something specifically related to the admin/forums - as if it thinks Private Messaging is enabled and then changes its mind halfway through..

My guess is that it will be something in the code of the index.php under the Private Messages module, but then again, thats a guess. The code is the same as the 7.4 code, so it should work...

well one thing i do know is that things can go wrong with upgrades.
thing is,we all use things that need some changes to some files,then we forget that and then things dont work anymore as they should..
thats also the big problem for a lot of people .
they have some extra's installed and chanmges to the core files that its difficult to keep it all up.
when you forget one thing another thing wont work,and then try to find out why...

Bumping, one other thing that I have noticed - once the Private Message has been 'sent' (or in this case NOT sent), there is no footer in the bottom, and the page looks like the main index page of the Your Accounts module even though the link looks like

 modules.php?name=Private_Messages&file=index

This is the right code that is supposed to show up, but there is also supposed to be a "Your message has been sent" - which does not show up.

So can any1 help with that cos i have same problem..
I did install new ver of raven nuke and no idea y...i can send msg but my users not..i mean thy did send but it didnt go to me..and thy have no msg in outbox to.. Sad

Soulast because this is an old tread I would suggest check your settings again also your uploaded files, set up a testuser and check the function again. I can tell you it works without issuses. If you still can`t solve the problem post again under RavenNuke all issues.
