To be honest I didn't even notice the fixed height was still in there from the photoshop output, I don't do sloppy coding , I always remove fixed sizes for 100% tables but I missed that one as it's a new theme, sometimes they evade me but I catch em all in the end, thanks for pointing it out.
My other points are still valid though, particularly CSS ignorance. Scrollbars you say are part of the browser but how about iframe and text area scrollbars? I consider these to be part of the webpage layout, as well as the background images. |

Personally I like IE the best but I'm trying hard to make FireFox my default browser. FireFox is getting a lot better and IE has way too many security problems. There are only a few things that I don't like about FireFox. When you download something, it will only let you open certain file types, where in IE you can open any (such as a .exe file). Another thing is that some things are made for the IE browser and don't work on others. One last thing is that IE displays some things nicer (although FireFox is getting very close to IE's page display ).

People who use just started using Firefox eventually get to grips with it. |

Personaly i hate IE.
- To much security risks
- d*** hard to code a theme with proper tables and divs since IE renders the page depending on the first row of the table or divs so everything on the page must have fixed sizes you can't combine fixed widths with % on columns
- lack of XHTML support
- lack of CSS support
- lack of debugging support
- lack of png alpha channels support (can't be integrated either)
- auto install of software and virusses that modify browser and you almost can't get rid of those
- Vulnerable ActiveX support
The latest versions of IE and OE just block everything on default so you must turn all security off to browse properly.
It is turned on because the people at MS never fixed the d*** thing and just made a "work around"
I use firefox and yes it isn't the best browser either, but it's better since there are not much exploits because hackers always attack the monopoly guy.
Opera is also good but has some pagerender problems and some lousy adds in the top-right corner. |

Here is an oddity in IE this:
www.%72%41%56%45%4E%50%68%50%53c%72%69%50%74%73.com
Brings your to www.ravenphpscripts.com
But in FireFox it doesn't get you anywhere. |

I've been using Phoenix/Firebird/Firefox for some time - since the beginning actually - Phoenix 0.2. It's the only way to go, IMHO - especially for web developers. If you haven't done so already, install the "Web Developer 0.8" extension, and it should become abundantly clear to you why I feel this way. This is a must-have item! Without it, you're only getting half the experience...
If you're a Google fan , install "Googlebar 0.9.0.16" too...
I know themes are highly personal, but to wrap this up, I use "Orbit Grey 0.2.1". It works very nicely with the above. You can find it here...
Another thing I might mention is the support site...
Look familiar? phpBB... That alone is worth the price of admission!
Firefox is VERY much like PHP-Nuke. It's a work in progress, developed mainly by the community. And, you can tweak the underpinnings to your heart's content, just like PHP-Nuke. In short, if you like Nuke, you will love Firefox! |
Oh man, yes FireFox is the best for development! i could not live without the developer tool bar!. and i found this extension called ColorZilla it puts an eyedropper in the lower left hand side. just click and point the cross hairs to any color on your or any other website, click again, and then right click the eyedropper and copy the #5a63bd or rgb(90, 99, 189) or what ever... get it here Only registered users can see links on this board! I'll give that a try!
BTW, the "Orbit Grey 0.2.1" theme hasn't been updated lately, and quit working after FX 0.10 (aka 1.0 PR), so I've switched to "Phoenity". It works even better with the web developer extensions...

i like the color blend of this theme. I have been working phpnuke themes for my site for so long now, I am now a theme hater! No just kidding. FF is a GOOD skin-able tool, that is a fact. and it conforms to standards! something IE knows nothing about. something i found funny is the fact that some so called webmasters think that the [ALT="Data"] not showing up in FF is a bug.

I have been using FF 1.0 since it's release, but I will be going back to IE. Maybe I will give it a try on v 3.0 or 4.0. The premise is great, but it lacks too many things to be any competion to IE. I am still trying to download some of the ext's. It is one gigantic memory hog (40meg per open page). The security is great, but I have never been hacked using IE. |

I have been an avid Opera (7.54 now) user for some time now. I really like the speed at which it loads pages, the tabbed windows, the easy to get to page size adjustment (makes tiny font easier to see), the statistics that it displays at the bottom of the page (or top or side if you're so inclined) and the google bar just waiting for a search. I just recently installed Firefox1.0. So far I really like it and it seems to have a lot of the same features as Opera but since I have used Opera and gotten used to it, it is hard to pull away and use a different browser. However, today I noticed that it is loading my site much faster with firefox than with Opera and I am learning that there are many features in Firefox that I am not familiar with yet. I will probably lean a little more to Firefox and try to explore all the features it has.
You could not make me go back to IE! I believe I would stop surfing all together if they (whoever they is) were to ban the use of any other browser but IE. It is 4 to 5 times slower than both Opera and Firefox. I use it to check for coding compatability but that's it, and I hate to use it for that. I also use netscape for checking my site. For surfing though I get too many errors and pages not loading correctly to bother with it and haven't used it much since I found Opera.
I would say that if you are on dialup you should give Firefox or Opera a spin. After about a two or three week adjustment period I think you might not go back to IE.

Hey, GorillaBoy?
Does Raven's forums show up all centered in Opera for you now? In IE and FF the forums are all justified left like normal. In Operal everthing is centered. |

I will have to look. I decided to change to FF last night and have been getting that set up. I have to admit I like FF quite a bit. I have been using Opera for a year but FF is very nice.
I like all the extensions you can get. There is even a google page rank extension that will show you the google page rank on every page you visit.
The only thing I miss is how Opera shows you the speed at which you are opening a page. |

I believe I will probably end up going to FF also. My wife has been convinced for about a month now and won't use anything else unless she has to. I'm with you on the download speeds showing at the bottom. I haven't taken the time to look at any of the FF extensions yet so I will have to take a look to see what other goodies they have. |

If you're running FireFox, and you like to listen to music, there is a handy extension, called FoxyTunes, that allows you to control Winamp without leaving your browser (and MANY other players too!).
You can get it here: Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login!
This is what it looks like:
Title and volume opened...
Compact (default)...
Really, really, compact...
I like FoxyTunes at the bottom of my browser, but you can reposition it anywhere you want.
Don't like the default buttons? They're skinnable too, of course...

OOOhhh I'll have to get FoxyTunes.
I've recently upgraded to FF1.0 Final and it rocks!
Been using FF for a year now and would NEVER go back to IE. The guys who write FF need all the support they can get, it's fantabytosie! lol |

i use Opera and Firefox.
Firefox is Open-Source and it free
Opera is shareware and it put Google Ads on Top is kinda annoying.
there is no extensions in opera. it doesn't have user friendly.
first bar is search bar but you can't change search engine there. |

This is likely to be a theme issue. What theme are you using? |

default theme, latest version , and a modified news module with 4 columns and some social bookmarks links.
you can watch it here : http://www.bodybuildingxl.com
you will only notice with a screen resolution like 800x600, 1024 x 768.
(1280x1024 works great)

What hack/module are you using for the two column news?
If you remove the hack to the News module does the problem remain? |

I don't think this thread is intended to be an "issue resolution" thread. I recommend that your specific issue be addressed in a separate thread.
Thanks. |
