Issue with CGIAuth Setup

Greetings everyone. I have been browsing the forums in an effort to see if I could find a fix for this, and thus far I haven't seen any.

I was referred here by the admin at www.portalthemes.com for my site.

Thus far I have RavenNuke installed and I already love it.

I have installed RavenNuke in a subdirectory of my current site:

www.forbidden-lore.com/RavenNuke/html

I have been following the instructions for the CGIAuth Setup. Unfortunately when I scan for Admins, and then proceed to the Admin_Auth List, there is no "Build CGIAuth file" option above my Admin name & PW.

Obviously I think the issue is with the way I am pointing RavenNuke to my atacces, staccess, and ftaccess files.

The recommended location for each is the following:

/home/content/t/a/l/taliesen/html/ravennuke/html/.htaccess
/home/content/t/a/l/taliesen/html/ravennuke/html/.staccess
/home/content/t/a/l/taliesen/html/ravennuke/html/.ftaccess

I tried what was recommended and it did not work. Then I typed in the following:

/RavenNuke/html/.htacces
/RavenNuke/html/.staccess
/RavenNuke/html/.ftaccess

This didn't work either. I am at a loss and am unsure as to what to do or how to proceed from here. I have tried to help myself by browsing these forums, however I think this might be a unique case since I installed it in a subdirectory so I can test out the site before going live.

I appreciate any help in advance.

Have you set passwords for the admins in the auth list?? dont think the link shows untill you do this.

Welcome taliesen! In your NukeSentinel(tm) Admin screen do you have Admin Auth set to Admin CGIAuth ?

I have followed the NukeSentinel Instructions to a "T." I do have Admin Auth set to Admin CGIAuth. Very Happy

Unfortunately the "Build CGI File:staccess never shows up anywhere on my screen as displayed in the HOWTOINSTALL tutorial.

I really believe something is incorrect with the way I am directing the paths for .ataccess, .staccess, .ftaccess. Do you all have any suggestions? Smile

have you checked the chmod to make sure they are 777 then once the file is modified set the permission back to 666

so create an .staccess file and place it somewhere in your site ( i prefer not to put mine in the root)

CHMOD it to 777 the go back to admin screen and see if the link is there

also check the path to the .STACCESS file in general sentinel admin screen

My .staccess file is located in www.forbidden-lore.com/RavenNuke/html/.staccess

I have done everything in my power to redirect the site to that location and it is not working. I have put in the recommended direction as well as what I posted above and still no dice.

I have also followed all the directions in the HOWTOINSTALL manual and have already CHMOD'ed it to 777.

In the file location screen are you using something like

/home/DIR NAME/public_html/forbidden-lore.com/ravennuke/html/.staccess

DIR NAME being what ever yous is

I could take a look for you if you need it let me know

I did not create the file manually - it never said in the directions to do that. It was already there from the initial installation. I though that the file was created/put there from the original installation.

oh yeh your using raven nuke, sorry i use PHPNUKE so i had to create mine.

without being in your admin panel its baffeling me???

if the path is def right and you have CHMOD to 777 then the link should show in HTTPauth menu
ill keep thinking

See - I don't think the path is correct. As you can see from the picture that I posted above from my FTP application it is located in the following DIR:

/RavenNuke/html/.staccess

So I have tried to put in what is recommended, and then I put in the above - still no dice. So i'm not sure what to do exactly?

All 3 files have been CHMOD'ed to 777.

I think that perhaps I'm just doing incorrect in the path. It is saying that "The file is not present or is not CHMODED correctly." It has to be the path. Sad

it will be the path
/RavenNuke/html/.staccess
is just relative to where you are and not the full path to your webserver

the path you have entered looks right

if you navigate to the file in CUTEFTP or cpanel whats the path in there

I posted a pic of cuteftp up at the top.

It is showing that the path is /RavenNuke/html/.staccess

Yet it is still not recognizing the file. I also just confirmed that all files are CHMOD'ed to 777. This is strange.

you need to change your settings in cute ftp so it doesnt default to the html DIR so you can see the full path

in site manager

go to properties of your site

go to actions tab

and clear out the area that says
when client connects switch to this remote folder.....

then disconnect and reconnect and then navigate to .staccess

Ugh, I just got it to work. I knew it had to be something simple. I used what was recommended:

/home/content/t/a/l/taliesen/html/ravennuke/html/.htaccess
/home/content/t/a/l/taliesen/html/ravennuke/html/.staccess
/home/content/t/a/l/taliesen/html/ravennuke/html/.ftaccess

However the "R" and the "N" needed to be capitalized in ravennuke. That fixed it..

Why in the heck is this so long when the files are only in /RavenNuke/html Directory?

Ugh. I guess I shouldn't have spoken too soon. Now I have another issue.

I copy and pasted what was in the pop up window into the .htaccess file. Then I turned around and CHMOD'ed them back to 666. Then I couldn't access the admin panel. It says in the instructions that if this happens then I've copied it over incorrectly or I filed to put in some information. here is the code:

PS. For the record I had to put the # in front of the code I copied and pasted to get access back to admin.

Now I'm getting 500 internal server error. ><

Yes, on *nix it is case sensitive. Sorry for the mental agony! When I first replied you had not mentioned that you were also receiving the File does not exist or is not correctly CHMODed. That is almost always a text case issue if you are sure that the files have the correct permissions.

NukeSentinel(tm), on the other hand, should have stated the suggested location in a case sensitive manner and not shifted everything to lower case. We will verify that there is a bug and correct it if needed.

A 500 server error is 99.9% the result of a syntax error in your .htaccess file

Just temporarily rename your .htaccess file to anything, like .htaccessx. That will allow you back into your admin panel.

Raven,

I had to reload my backup .htaccess file to get my site to work again.

I believe I am not understanding where in the code that is generated when you click on "CGIAUTH Setup".

There was similar code in the existing .htaccess file and I just copied over that. Am I missing something? Here is the code that is generated:
