download counter

I am putting together a module for ePubs, ebooks and such but I want to add a download counter to each link and a means to hide the actual download link from the user so as to keep leeching and hotlinking to a minimum.

Has anyone ever done this?

If so, can you help?

The included downloads module does this already.

Hmm I would think in answer to your question - Yes the person who did the current download module, but not sure if they have the time to help completely but I am sure if you study the code and get stuck on a section somebody here will help you outta the jam.

My code in the latest Downloads module (TegoNuke[tm] Downloads (NSNGD)) follows along similar lines to this original post:

But, I did make some additional improvements within the code, which you now have a general idea where i made the changes. Wink
