American Samoa is not a state it's a US territory.
I went to that link. I think it will be helpful. I email the local government and told them what I'm looking for and why. They haven't responded yet. But I bookmarked it so I can look for other Villages

Glad the link was of some use HW. You may have to wait a while for them to reply, our officials are not known for their speed
If you need anymore help let me know I'd be pleased to help you if I could.
Pardon my ignorance but what is the difference between a State and a US territory?
Is a US territory a country governed by the US but outside of the US? Bit like our old British Empire kind of thing |

Ya pretty much like the British Empire. The difference is they are not part of the United States, but we baby-sit them. They vote, pay taxes, and have government assistance just like any state would .. just not as much.
All states, besides the original 13, start out as a territory. Then they apply for statehood with congress. Utah, where I'm at, was the 45th state to enter the United States on January 4, 1896. After us there was only 5 more states added.
Now we have 7 Commonwealths & Territories. American Samoa, District of Columbia (our capital), Federated States of Micronesia, Guam (I think is going to be our next state), Commonwealth of Northern Marianas, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. |

This is going to make you laugh. I was in a political debate with someone and I can't even remember the debate now ... but I made a reference to Canada about something. And he said ... get this ... That doesn't count Canada is a 3rd world country.
Everyone about died. The debate instantly changed to this new subject.
OMGosh I couldn't believe someone is actually that stupid!!!
I need to find the transcript for you to read .. it was too funny. |

Thank you Webby for that.
You know there is hardly anything in our education about American history or any other country come to that. So your explanation about states and territories was very interesting.
I have to admit I do not know much about American history after the Civil War, because I found the period before it more interesting. |

Your forgiven ... I don't know much about European history other then the Bronze Age of Britain, WW 1 & 2 ... Napoleon .. Alexander the Great ...ummm ... lets see ... the Irish Potato famine (that sucked) ... and Princess Diana You all are just more interesting then we are. You guys had the Renaissance … we had Woodstock {shaking head}
I've been all over Europe and love seeing everything. The thing that amazed me is to see how much of the "Old World" stuff (pre WWI) is still around even after all the wars and stuff. Italy was great, what a tourist trap ... lol
I'm currently adding all my pictures from trips to my site. I've added a few Holland, Germany and France. I have so many to add it's going to take longer then the trips that the pictures came from. |

lol I love travelling. Haven't been anywhere interesting for years now, due to my husbands health
I loved France, Paris was amazing. I wanted to see the Palace of Versailles and typically it was closed the day I got there, so had to go back the following day. But wow what a place.
Germany is great too, although the German food was a bit boring. lol
And Holland, did you see the bulb fields?
Well the reason we still have so many old buildings and stuff around is more down to people not moving around much. They tend to stay in one place for years without moving house rofl
I once knew an old couple that had never travelled more than 10 miles from their house, they'd grown up in the village and married and stayed put for over 60 years
Hmmm... I dont think we're more interesting. I'm much more interested in Native American history. Infact I'm a bit of a fanatic on it, and have so many reference books.
The British are too starchy for me. lol
I'll have to visit your site and see your photographs. Sounds brilliant. |
