Ok so has anyone figured out a way so registered viewers can pick and choose which blocks they want to see.

Say you have active block-left, block-center, block-centerup, active. At first all the blocks that are active (and viewable to that group) are seen. But say user 1 doesn't want block-centerup to show. User 1 can go to his My account area and deactivate it. And later on if he does want to see it then he can reactivate it.

I'm thinking of a user interface like the forums permissions for moderators ... a list of each block name with a drop down menu so they are either on or off.

The site admin still chooses which blocks are active, and their weight on the site. But users can have as much or as little 'Fluff' to their liking Smile

At first glance I thought this might be a nice enhancement. Doing it the way you propose would be pretty easy and I was serious about coding it (and dedicating it to you Wink ). But, not wanting to be swayed by another pretty face Image, I grabbed hold of my hormones and said "Hormones, think higher".

The webmaster could lose exposure and possibly even revenue, depending on how advertizing is applied to his site. So, that would mean having to somehow regulate what can and can't be hidden. Major complication, as about the only way to do that would be to modify the block's table. Don't want to go there.

Hmm. What if the disabled blocks was only given to subscribed users? There already is an option in the blocks for that. Then it would just have to be on a user bases, instead of a global. Advertising is already disabled for subscribed users anyway, but what if they want to see it Smile I think some people would pay a couple of bucks to get rid of fluff or add fluff.
