I am wanting to implement a gallery on my website.
I've wanted Coppermine, but it doesn't work with my site - way too many errors and I've set it up correctly.
I then tried menalto's gallery - needed safe mode off - that's a NO.
What else is there? What do you reccomend? What can I use that I don't have to mess with php safe mode? |

what to recommend?
Listen ...a lot of people like menalto and others like coppermine.
And it may sound weird but if you have errors with your coppermine its likely caused by you,but then again you could also could have used a wrong version..
I had coppermine running myself and had no problems .
also there's the security of coppermine that isnt optimized..
Im not aware of where it goes wrong, usualy when you allow public access for uploading.
Menalto isnt my favorite because i dont like how it looks..
i suggest you try coppermine again and read the simple install directions. |

dont get me wrong but most of the times thats where it goes wrong...
and if you use the wrong version of coppermine then yes you can end up with a messed up gallery...
so dont give up...try again... |

After I left here, I looked for the location where I downloaded the port for nuke - and they took it away...
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=89658
They've taken a lot of ports and files off of the website since the last time I visited. Believe me, 95% of the time, I will work with code, writing, rewriting, etc until it works. I've made numerous (simple) modules and blocks - but I've not had the time to investigate the problems with coppermine, and perhaps I did get a wrong version - this one didn't say nuke, it said cpgnuke and based on my reading since then, this is a different version than phpnuke. I think perhaps that is why I was having those errors.
Unless I host my own box, I cannot disable safe mode in php - I work for an ISP and am fixing to switch over the websites that we host to a new server I just built (we ran out of licenses and needed something faster than a 1ghz cellery with a limit of 512mb of memory). I might be able to find an old box around the shop and put it on and disable safe mode but right now I'm concentrating on what I can do. This is why menalto would not work for me - safe mode issues.
I want something good working and like coppermine, but I'm not sure, unless I can find a version out there that will work, that it can work with my 7.7. |

well i wouldnt spend to much time on that.
what you can do is to download PHP-Nuke Platinum v.7.6.0 and grab the coppermine that is included.
i installed myself and no problems ...and it should run, safemode on or off. |

I think I might just do that - considering there are about 5-10 things I was going to work on that are already included with 7.6 platinum. How hard would it be to move from 7.7 to 7.6 platinum? Just move the database? |

well if you have enough space i always recommend to make a testsite,a duplicate...then it can never go wrong...
every nuke version has its problems...als platinum has his things....
so if there's no need to change then dont..
here...http://www.hitwalker.nl/phpx/html/modules.php?name=coppermine
and i run it on nuke 7.6 |

space is pretty much unlimited for me. I think I'll take a backup of my database and install 7.6 plat and see where it goes from there. |

well you dont need much space to make your testsite..
just install a stripped 7.6,a few standard mods is good enough with standard theme.. |

are you using 7.6 regular or platinum?
If you are using regular, which version of coppermine did you use and where can I find it? |

I would stay a LONG way from Nuke Platinum.
Most of the time the support site is down which is a pretty bad sign.
I know several people who are having all kinds of problems with platinum.
There aren't very many themes and if you do find one you want to use get ready to spend hours trying to convert it. |

I had already started another thread regarding Platinum and decided to go against it. I'm now looking into other avenues. |
