Forum security

Hello

I am using nuke 7.6 and phpBB 2.0.10. For the last weeks someone is writing rubbish in my forum. The forum is open for all to write, but yesterday I configured the system so only registered users can write here.

This morning anonymous visitors had been writing in the forums again.

How is this possible? Are they using scripts or so?

I also use Sentinel version 2.3.0. When I search for tracked IPs in sentinel, sentinel dont find these IPs from these anonymous persons.

I cant block these guys because it seems they are using proxies and that they have different IPs.

Can someone help?

You can try upgrading to the latest version of Sentinel; see if that helps.

hi,

have checked again, and it seems that I forgot to secure one forum to only registered users. All the posts that came in last night had posts in this forum.

But, I will upgrade the nuke 76 to raven distro and the last phpbb and sentinel.

All should be ok now

It is good practise to use the forum permission advanced view to ensure;
Post / Reply / Edit / are all set for a miminum of 'Registered Useer' access. This will ensure your forums have the minimum protection from anonymous posting.
