Safe for php-nuke to upgrade from PHP 4.4.2 to PHP 5 ?

Is it safe to upgrade a php-nuke based website to the new version PHP 5.0 ?

Not sure if there is a definitive answer to that - sory.
One post here refers to to smeone installing it and running it with PHP5 without a problem, yet there is at least 2 posts that said they had a problem.
I guess it depends on the server configuration and what modules/hacks were installed.

Um... I *think* this would be a big mistake, but I dunno for sure. Why don't you setup a test site, and tell 'us' if PHP 5 works or not.

Personally, I *think* it will be a disaster... Wink

Ive run php nuke with php5 installed and absolutley no problems.

PHP5 give you a little more freedom with the options but in return restrict the php a bit more.

But if settings in the php.ini are configured bout the same as php4, Then nuke should run without problems, This is the same result on both windows and linux.

I use PHP 5 and it runs fine. Just have to be careful in the configuration. Smile

Evaders, am wondering if you know if web hosts traditionally have the "right setup" in order for this to run? I imagine that you have complete control over your server? Just curious as to how difficult it would be to get the web hosts to "configure" it for PHP-Nuke to run.

Generally not, I would recommend magic_quotes_gpc turned on and output_buffering turned on. Make sure PHP 5 is compiled with MySQL support. Other configuration issues have arisen that I've changed, but I can't remember off the top anymore what they are.
