Can I use wordpad to edit the .htaccess file. I read this thread and was going to do it but have no idea how.

Thanks for your time,

Yes wordpad will do this, Sentinel sets it up for you in the event things wont work right.

Was hacked 2 times so after some resource realized how vulnerable nuke is to hacking.

Currently running Nuke 7.5 and NukeSentinel 2.5

To secure my website I
1) Added NukeSentinel
2) Changed my cpanel username and pass
3) Changed my directory username and pass, i.e. to phpMyAdmin
4) Added a pass to the modules/Forums/admin folder
5) Added Raven patch for $NastyGram
6) Looking into the patches now for 7.5

Not sure how to password protect the admin.php file

Also not sure if there is anything else I can do to secure my website.

Forgot to mention that I also checked the database in nuke_authors and there were no new authors. Changed the usernames while I was in there.

Edited - I made a small donation to say thank you for having a truly wonderful website and support forum. Very Happy

I would have placed number 6 right up front ahead of NS. It is the single most important step (not the only important step) that involves many, many script changes. I usually start with the core nuke install, then patches, then NS, then everything else... that is just for future reference and to warn you to not just overwrite your site files now with the patches. You have some work ahead of you, but very well worth it.

Regarding this:

Just follow the instructions in the NukeSentinel installation instructions or get yourself the latest RavenNuke 2.02.02 FULL distro (from this site) and in it there is a HowToInstall manual that has one page on NS that is just excellent for this! It is called HTTPAuth or CGIAuth.
