Hi all!

After a lot of deliberation I have finally decided to switch over to Ravennuke because by original PHPNuke 7.6 installation is bugging my life out. I have a running website at http://www.pottersrealm.com based on PHPNuke 7.6; I need complete instructions on how to migrate from that to Ravennuke, I have the following installed:

    GT-Nextgen
    Menalto Gallery 1.5.7
    CNBYA 4.4.0
    NukeSEO
    Nuke Sentinel 2.1.3

I also have a heavily modded Nuke2BB 2.0.18

My simple question is:

Is it feasible for me to move over to Ravennuke - ie I shall not face any problems with site conversion because of the mods I use? And whether I can keep my Forums intact - i.e. use my modified forums instead of BBtoNuke 2.0.23?

It's certainly possible, but you will probably hit a few problems along the way if you have a made a lot of mods. We always recommend people set up a test site first and run a trial upgrade before upgrading the live site. You can do this using XAMPP.

There is quite a lot of help on upgrading in the docs that come with RN and in the forums here, so probably worth a search and read.

BTW it is probably worth upgrading the forums, because the current release patches a number of security issues. Unless of course you have patched these manually.

Thanks Jakec. I shall do a complete local overhaul before I touch the live site.

Customizations are always going to be a cause for issues. You may have to re-customize a few things. Definitely taking the local XAMPP route as jakec has recommended is the right approach.

I would also review the Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! manual's page on "Upgrading". In your case, you would want to read the section on "Migrating to RavenNuke" within that page.

Hi Guys,

I have been running a local upgrade - but am stuck with the forums part. I have upgraded the forums to 2.0.22 from 2.0.18. I used Beyond Compare to make code edits to the Forum files to make them work with Ravennuke. But somehow the left pane in my Forums admin area is blank, and I get the error message

Sorry, but this board is currently unavailable. Please try again later.

when I try to access forums from forums.html.

I have searched all possible forums here - but cannot get an answer. Can someone guide me a bit.

PS: By code edits I mean that I compared the original Forums folder and files bundled with RN to my original Forums and made changes as and where necessary. Confused Feel like killing myself!!!
