Hi all, I have noticed while doing a search of yahoo two of my sites have been blocked, strangely they are still listed but if I check the yahoo cach it shows this page...

You have attempted to improperly access the admin area of this site.

NukeSentinel does not protect search engines by default. So, when an attack spoofs the IP of search engines, this happens. You can add the search engine IP ranges to the protected ranges in NukeSentinel.

Thanks for your help, I dont want to slag sentinal off as its very good but I do think its odd that when installed it can block major search engines like yahoo and countless others I guess Confused Something maybe should be clearly stated that search engines have to be allowed manually etc or it could be very damaging for some.

mrix, unfortunately, the issue is with the hackers and spammers that make our lives so miserable trying to keep up with them... They just have too many tools at their disposal.

It is also one of the reasons why we all need to watch our ban messages closely to catch these early on.

I do wish there was a service that kept track of these ranges and made lists available. But, I am not aware of any that are reliable (i.e., kept up-to-date). If someone knows of one, do please post back a link as that would be quite valuable to all.

NukeSentinel should show you the blocked IP in Yahoo's cache of your site. You can add that IP to the protected range.

Nuke Sentinel should not block any bots except those it is specifically told to and Yahoo/Inktomi/Slurp is not one of them.
I suspect you may have an open link on your site to an admin function which has been crawled causing the admin blocker to trip (quite legitimately) OR someone has spoofed the bots IP in order to force a ban situation (a competitor??).

I find it very strange that there is no IP listed in the Yahoo cache because without it, NS cannot block the IP.
Have you checked you referrers/Agents in NS ??

For the website in your sig.

Code:
Be SURE to include the following information in any email!

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Yahoo! Slurp; http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearch/slurp)
Remote Address: 74.6.22.120
Client IP: 72.30.216.95
Forwarded For: 72.30.216.95
Date Blocked: __TIMEDATE__
Block expires: __DATEEXPIRES__

And when did you add those IP's to your protected range?
Dont forget that it can take quite some time for the search engine to re-crawl your page and renew the search results, these changes dont happen overnight Wink

I have had this problem for weeks and also made and added ip`s weeks ago.
I do understand a fair bit of SEO and serps updating etc.
If you out the Keyword Sea Fishing in Google.com my site comes up around 5th postion and you can clearly see the problem.

As for someone spoofing this I dont think is the case as I have 2 phpnuke sites which are totally different, was is online gaming and the other is sea fishing so i dont think that would be the case.

thanks for the help though
much apreciated
