TechraDark header issue

Having an issue with header alignment in the TechraDark theme on FF3. Don't have this issue with FF2, IE6/7, Opera, or Safari, so it's a bit confusing.

Just posted a link as the pic's large and there may still be dialup users on here.
This is what's in header.php for the theme, so far I've had no luck in tweaking it to fit correctly. I've tried contacting Kenetix who wrote the theme but have never heard anything back.

I'd like to move towards a pure css theme but I'm not the owner of the site, just the guy that fixes stuff, and while the theme is buggy and no where near compliant it does look nice and the owner wants to stick with it.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

That is a complete mess of code there..
Rowspans are the devils tag...

Anyway, try getting rid of the &nbsp; in the expanding TD.
