I just upgraded from 2.20 to 2.40 the other day. about the only thing i kept from the website was the database. I removed all the files from the web directory and placed just the new 2.40 files there. I followed the instructions to a tee (ran the database upgrade script, made file permissions changes and did the security changes). for some reason i ended up with a weird issue. When i'm logged in with my god mode account, i can see all the SQL commands at the bottom of every webpage. i also noticed that my downloads page is no longer working. I see these in the logs and on the screen.

when clicking on a category in downloads i see this on the screen and in the vhost_error.log.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function mb_internal_encoding() in /var/www/html/includes/class.autokeyword.php on line 113

in the apache logs i also see this while browsing the web pages
[Fri Dec 11 19:53:32 2009] [error] [client 10.0.107.204] PHP Warning: opendir(./includes/addons) [<a href='function.opendir'>function.opendir</a>]: failed to open dir: No such file or directory in /var/www/html/mainfile.php on line 1956, referer: http://www.<removed>.com/admin.php

At one point I saw this error:
PHP Notice: Undefined variable: op in /var/www/html/modules/Your_Account/includes/mainfileend.php on
line 49, referer: http://www.<removed>.com/admin.php

All the database upgrades showed as successful.
I'm running fedora core 10 with PHP 5.2.9

config.php setting
display_errors = true

rnconfig.php
error_reporting = E_ALL^E_NOTICE;
loglevel = 3;

Any help anyone can provide would be appreciated. thanks

fusion2468, your first issue with "mb_internal_encoding()" is that your host does not have the mb module enabled with PHP. If they are not willing to do so, i sure would be interested in understanding why as multi-byte characterset handling is almost a must these days on the web.

Your second issue with "./includes/addons" is that your FTP program did not create that as an empty directory. Just add it manually and this should go away.

The last item mentioned, "PHP Notice: Undefined variable: op", may have been fixed already in our repository, but it is just a warning, so not critical at the moment. You will not be running your production site with $display_errors = true and so this will not be shown normally.
