My dog whom I loved dearly had a stroke today and we had to put her to sleep. I wept like a baby. She will be missed.
She was a boxer. [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] |

My heart goes out to you . My mom died on November 15, 2009. We had taken my 4 year old Rat Terrier, Maggie, back to Indiana with us as she and I had never spent a day/night w/o each other since we got her at 6 months. We truly were inseparable! She knew my every move. She knew when I was having a Narcolepsy nap attack and would start pacing and trying to get me to lie down. The very next evening she was intentionally run over and killed. I cried and pleaded for her breath of life but it was not to be. My intense grieving did not subside until almost 6 weeks had gone by. Tears are welling up, even now. For both of us, I weep. |

I understand completely, as I have an old dalmatian/heeler that has been by my side everyday for the past 15+ years. My sincere condolences. |

You have my condolences and empathy.
We lost one of our dogs in 2006 through rapid on-set cancer (3 days is all it took from the first symptoms something was wrong).
He had the personally of a laid back cantankerous old man even from when he was a pup. He'd follow me everywhere and I lost count of the number of times he's creep up behind me while I was washing pots in the sink and go to sleep at me feet, causing me to fall over him or accidentally stand on his tail when I turned round. Or he'd curl up between the legs of my office chair in the den and I'd clip his tail with the chair wheel whenever I moved position.
Even when it was time for his walks, he went when he wanted to go, we went where he wanted to go. There wasn't a power in this universe that would get him to go outside when it was raining unless he was sheltered with an umbrella. When we first got him, my wife named him TC (short for Trash Can) because he would eat anything and everything but as he grew up, although his name remained the same, the meaning changed to 'Top Commando' due to his ability to sneak up on you and lay down in the most dangerous and awkward places, not to mention his uncanny ability to crawl under our bed at night through a gap that looked impossibly small.
We miss him still and he is forever in our hearts. |

I, too, give you my condolences and empathy. I lost all three of my dogs over the course of 12 months in 2006/2007. It was so unbelievable to be true. My wife and I were devastated, but luckily our son was only a few years old by then... although he still on occasion will mention one of their names and all the emotions well up again. My heart goes out to you and the family.
For some, they just cannot understand how important these little creatures are to our lives. Too bad for them, because they miss out on seeing what true unconditional love is really like. That love is a beautiful demonstration of our Lord and Savior's unconditional love for us! Yes, I know, not a perfect analogy, but it immediately came to mind while writing this and I know that I was meant to write it... |
