Brainfreeze...Looking for general information

Hello All,

At the moment i am expierencing a brainfreeze.... I have read in 2 days allot about cms's. Pretty much not seeing the forrest through the trees anymore...

But never-the-less finally came here.

I have a few questions.

I want to start a gaming community site.
At the moment I am running a Joomla test but that is failing due to some unexplainable 500 errors.

So before I flush all away I want to make an enquiry here.

I am looking for:
- A cms
wich has:
- intergrated forum (may be bridged) preferable phpbb3.
- 1 userbase for site and forum
- addons for groups/teams/games.
- personal messaging.
- have a clan war shedule
- a good and clear admin area, (and simple user management)

Can I find these things here? (Most of this I have found here, allthough i do not know what phpbb forum is used and if the group addon part works..)

But I know there are allot of blocks/mods for php nuke, do they all work for ravennuke?

I have a basic understanding of programming, seen from a novice point of view, how hard is making a page/block for ravennuke?

Is the theme/css template easally editable?

@ current RN has phpbb2 integrated, there are some community developed phpbb3 bridges floating around..

1 userbase for site and forum

Calendar included, could be adapted for your purpose, but no challenge system..

Content plus has builtin editor for user/admin created pages, WYSIWYG block editor.

Yes, tons of themes available, both CSS and table based.

I believe everything you asking can be done with RavenNuke and I think you will find it easier to use in comparison to the likes of Joomla, but you should really install a test site to find out for yourself.

RN comes with phpBB2, but you can get phpBB3 bridged and there is an integration for phpNuke, but can't be sure if it works.

Have a look at http://www.clanthemes.com/ they have a number of themes, modules and blocks.

Most phpNuke themes, blocks and modules will work with RN, as long as they are using the latest database layer.

For some sample themes, check out http://themes.fornuke.com - these themes are designed for PHP-Nuke, and most will work with RN, too. In fact, that site is running RN.

Wow the clan roster looks great and is infact the clan addition i am looking for,but.... it comes with a price.

Is there a free version available?

I am willing to invest in webspace and time installing and maintaining stuff, but $50,00 for a module is pretty steep...

Most Joomla addons are commercial...

I'm not sure about a free clan roster - did you search for it?

well i tried several roster modules back in the day, most had bugs/errors and basically didn't work. You won't find any near the quality of the aforementioned clan roster. Some have used vWar but it is not a secure product so I would avoid it like the plague :O

lol, avoiding stuff like the plague seems wise....

@kguske, yes i looked for it.. could only find the 50 dollar solution.,,,

so basicly i have to trow them some money to get it the way i want... Sad

any other insights?

Not sure if you have the knowledge, but you could always write your own (or enhance something free to do what you need). Several on this site have learned enough by reading posts to do some pretty complex stuff.
