There is an OpenID login system developed for RavenNuke here: [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] developed by nuken.

I am sure he will be interested to read your article.

I like the approach. The idea of using the Open ID to handle the password really simplifies logins. My registration mod only uses the third party site to verify the email address instead of having to send an email with a link back to the site.

@Nuken

I've noticed that OpenID and XRI don't have a nice way to manage your avatar.
This is not the task of OpenID since it's an authentication system, not a profile system.
Therefore i've launched a new webservice where you can manage your OpenID/XRI Avatar based on your claimed_id.

This is different from Gravatar because this webservice will not store any personal information.

You can use it to set the default avatar at login?

Go try the beta at: [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

I like that idea a lot. The same thing goes for using Facebook to login. Facebook sends the user Avatar link as a redirected, extremely large image that just does not work well.

I had thought of using Gravatar except for the fact that very few users actually have one.

Do you have any intention of using your service as an addon option for nuke site registrations?

Well you can already!
In your Avatar control panel just paste your personal link like: [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] (add .png behind the hash)

The only thing needed to automatically store the url is an OpenID login inside the Nuke website, and it seems you already have that code Smile
