Hi

I am starting over with a Fresh install of my site.

I have a previous post here:

http://www.ravenphpscripts.com/postt20139.html

However - since I am starting over with a fresh install - fresh approach - I am starting this new thread.

I have installed RavenNuke_v2.40.01 fresh.

One thing I noticed is that there are no IPs in the NukeSentinel "Display protected ranges" and "display excluded ranges"" sections.

I did run the LoadIPtoCountry sections and did not get any errors - proceeded to setup.

Tried clicking on the IP to Country menu - clicking on all the update options there. They ran but still no IPs in Protected range menu. . .

Am I missing Something?

Here is my game plan.

I updated my current site locally in my test environment from RN 2.20.01 version to v2.40.01 today.

I deleted the production site and installed a fresh copy of RN v2.40.01

Will export and import stuff I want to carry over - downloads, links, articles in the home page - stuff like that.

Will do a fresh integration of gallery 2

Other stuff I will either drop all together or install a new version of it. For example I had pnflashgames installed. Will install something different or get an updated version of that and reinstall. . .

Anyway - I am concerned that the Nukesentinel part is not setup correctly . .. .

I think I covered most of this in our recent email exchange but for the benefit of others;
The Protected Range is purely for the adminstrators IP address - it gets stored in there once you activate HTTPAuth or CGIAuth (or whatever it is called) from within the NS admin area.
Once activated use the 'Scan for new admins' function and when you set that up, it will store your IP in the Protected Range.

I was also going to repost the link you gave me to the Wiki page but not sure if it is still current since it seems to date around 2008.

Hiya

The reason I asked is that in my previous version of RN there were IPs in there.

If you click on view for one of them you get:

Notes: Added by Raven Yahoo 64.59.61.224 - 64.59.61.239

Should these no longer be in there?

Good point!
I believe they were dropped because IP's can be spoofed; that is to say, someone could access your website declaring they were coming from an IP in a protected or excluded range.
Therefore, someone pretending to use one of Googles IP's (as an example) wouldn't be tracked if that IP was in an excluded range.
Personally I prefer not to have ANYTHING in my protected or excluded ranges except for the 2 admin IP's I have.
