is there an auto refresh Chat Shout Block like they use in Xoops for phpnuke that anyone knows of. I have tried a number of Shout Blocks that i have found but i would like to find one that auto refreshes, I know this is just a cosmetic thing but it saves bandwith and having 56k users complain about having the site reload.
thanks

I have had good luck with the one I just made available in the download section. I have installed it for several people.

I've downloaded and installed the QShoutbox in the site's download area but its dosen't seem to work.

When testing the module, I simply get the Qshout block in the middle of the page with the following:

Quiecom: Welcome to shoutblock
08-21-0224:00
Next - All (links)

There is no area to post your text or any other visible control buttons to click on.

I am wondering if there is something I'm missing. I've followed the installation file and the sql tables required exist in the database.

Any ideas ?

Also, does any know of any other shout boxes out there?

hmmm. I have installed this on several sites w/o any problems. Can't think of anything off the top of my head. I can't remember, but isn't there a configuration file that you have to enter the MySQL parameters in? Have you done that?

Go into your Admin Panel and click on the QShoutblock Graphic or link
There is where you do all your configuration.
You must reinstall the database at the bottom of the menu.
yes i know this is your first install but trust me it will work if the modules are in the right place.

If you have any further problems please post them and we can work them out one step at a time.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply Fury,

I've reinstalled the database and I'm getting the same block displayed but with an aweful red background!

What I'll do, in order to save you guys the trouble but also time, is reinstall it from the beginning and let you know what the results were.

Cheers,

I've figured it out....

I was using the Shoutbox as a module and not as a Block. I just enabled it from the block section in the admin menu and its working perfect.

I seem to have something out of whack.
I cant seem to add a new user and some of the graphics seems to be missing on the bottom left hand side of my main web page.

Is there some files that need to be edited?

No my site navigation block looks ok. Im running my monitor resolution at 1024x768. Seems ok here. It is the ShoutBlock module:

Shoutbox

Shout History

Only Registered Users can Shout
Create/Login

It seems mostly whitened out.
