I am hoping this is something simple. Perhaps it is because I have installed Sentinal 2.01 fianlly, and have locked myself out. I dunno. PLEASE let it be so simple.
When you try to access the first page of my site, this error comes up:

Quote:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: message_die() in /home/redwebz/public_html/db/db.php on line 88

Run conntest and this is the message:

Quote:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'user_name@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/redwebz/public_html/conntest.php on line 3

Connection Test Script was unable to connect to MySQL sever!
One or more of these variables are wrong in your config.php: localhost, user_name, password

I have checked my config file and all is as it should be. I've looked at my database manager, and have the same things listed for the d/base ame. user name. etc that are listed in the config file.
HELP!

The one and only reason you receive that error is that your MySQL connection settings in config.php do not match what is installed on your hosts server. Since you just changed servers, it would appear to be maybe your username prefix has changed maybe? It's definitely in your setup though.

That's what I was afraid of. I contacted the host, but have not heard back yet.
I do have back up of the sql from yesterday before the install. Would it be quicker perhaps to just removed the d/b and redump? Which presents the problem of how huge the d/b is--I would need to do the dump in sections as it will time out...
Aaack, what would I do with out you..

Log into cPanel and goto MySQL. Verify the database names and user names. That might be a quick way to see something.

It's all the same as what is in my config.php file--it has been this since I began this site over a year ago.

But you moved servers. It's possible that the password isn't the same or maybe the database and database user are no longer linked. Make sure that that username has access to thata database. Also check MySQL server status from your cPanel. Is MySQL started?

My host removed, reinstalled and reset permissions on the new server. All seems fine now.
Nothing showed on logs what could have caused it--but it works, and that is the most important thing.
I guess by now tho, you realize if it is weird, and CAN happen, it's GONNA happen to me.
