Nuke versions and then make it a sticky? Thank you for the consideration!

Each nuke release comes with an upgrade folder so you can update the tables, then you have to upload the contents of the archive. Then just wait for things to break. Surprised

A little more in depth please. Step by Step... there are a lot of people out here who feel it is a daunting task and would appreciate a How-to guide.

Here is how I did it the first time.

Upload all new files. Run appropriate scripts.

Update forums with files and scripts.

Now, you have to do all your mods all over again.

You can be up and going fast. Your mods may take some time to get working again but for the most part my sites have been back quickly.

I did things totally different this time.

I created a special folder for the upgrade. I made a copy of my database and set it up.

I installed 7.4 into this directory and patched the second database. Now I have to install all mods again. I am using the attachment mod for forums and that I am starting over fresh and deleting all attachments. I have coppermine and am upgrading that but am able to keep all my attachments.

Due to lack of time this is taking a week to accomplish. My goal is to be able to delete my old files completely and just upload the new files to the server. Then run all the scripts needed for the database to be updated. With this I hope none of the mods will be broken when the changeover happens.

Hopefully this will give me a very clean and fresh install.

I want to do the changeover today.

I will take Ganja's advice and wait for things to break.

chatserv runs a great board: http://www.nukefixes.com/forum-44.html for all the essential security fixes. I wouldnt worry too much about upgrading the whole nuke pakage itself as long as you keep up to date on the fixes, you can add these manually so not to mess with any mods. That's how I do it anyway. Smile

ps: I love your forum rank Blith Laughing
