Looking for modules and some info

Ok ive been searching for a while for some things. 1st i am looking for a extra news/message module. I am also searching for information on how i would go about setting it up on my site for using subdomains linked to the main domain. for example i would have my main domain then a sub for each ame system. I can do all that but what i want is a way to link them together so when someone logs into the main domain and then click on like a link to go to a subdomain it will log them into the subdomain automatically without them having to type in the log in info.

So you want multiple sites running off of one database, is that correct?
