Hi, I am assuming the donat-o-meter block to the left is Nuke Treasury from other threads that I have read, but I'm new to this and would like some assistance if possible.

My site uses phpNuke 7.5, and I have never needed/used a donation block before, but in light of the recent disaster, I like the idea of having one of these on my site where people can donate directly to Unicef via PayPal, to help with the Tsunami disaster. Also people will be able to see their names when donated (or have that option at least).

As I said, I'm quite new to phpNuke, so I would like to know 1) can this be done, and 2) how to do it, if it is. I have been on PayPal's site and they have a section to donate to Unicef, but on Unicef's site I can't see any info regarding setting up a payment system from a website.

My 2 main concerns are 1) that people know that their donations are going where they should be and 2) that the donations are actually getting there. What sort of info would I need; I'm assuming I would replace my PayPal account details to that of Unicefs, or is that wrong?

Thanks in advance of any help you can offer.

-Pete.

I'm not sure if your intended donation recipient has a PayPal account for accepting donations, but if they did, it's unlikely they would change the PayPal IPN setting to point to your page, which is necessary for the donations to be included in your site's goal and donor listings. You could override that by modifying the script on your site (PayPal has documentation on how to do this), but it's not a trivial change.

You could set up a link on your site to the recipient's donation site, even though there would not be a summary of the donations made through your site. Another option would be to to setup a PayPal account yourself with proceeds going to your selected recipient. Donors would be trusting you to follow through with this option, though, so this option doesn't address your concerns.

Hi kguske, many thanks for your reply.

Regarding you last sentence, I think I'll steer clear of the handling of the money so to speak, not that I'm not trustorwthy, I just wouldn't like complications to arise causing problems for myself, the donators and the recipients (Unicef in this case).

I think the safest (and probably easiest) way is the direct link to the donation site, and therefore taking the responsibility from my hands; it's a shame really as it would be nice for people to see the amount that has been donated and by who etc; I will look for those instructions from PayPal you mentioned before taking the easy route, and perhaps get something working, although I'm not sure it's within my capabilities.

Thanks anyhow for your time and advice.

-Pete.
