I could not find a place to post newbie questions so I hope this is not the wrong place to be asking this.

In another forum I noticed someone talking about how you can create custom menus. I posed this question their but I don't seem to be getting a response so I thought I would try here.

So the person wrote:

...disable the Modules Block and create a custom menu...

...with some creativity and thoughtful linking strategies, you can create a better menu system in the Content section or create a custom Menu Block and link to the Content pages in a way that makes better sense to you and your readers.

You'll just have to play around with it and see what works for you.

My question is.. Where can I learn how to create a custom menu?

Thanks in advance!

Since there is the nice addon sommaire that can dynamically create a semi custom menu for you why go to the trouble?

I could see if you were a graphics artist/html wizard or maybe had some flash experience and wanted use that instead.

Otherwise just search google or some where for custom menu or dhtml menu there are many many examples out there. In a variety of languages that work with php.

Maybe I went off the question a bit.

Basically you can put anything into a block file.

But check out the "Book" there is a lot of information that will help you.

There are three customizable menus that I've used, two of which I have available - the sommaire mentioned above and block dalme. I also use one that Codezwiz developed that you see on my site right now. You can get a flash menu as well from a number of places but I shy away from flash myself - most of em are too dynamic for my tastes.

How about the multilingual menu created by miguelo ?

I use this on my site and it works just fine. It allows you to create a highly customizable menu for every language you have on your site.
It is easy to install and to modify.

Here is where you can find it

You can see it in action on my site :

Sincerely,
