Greetings, first off I am completely new to php, though learning.

I recently installed 7.6, got it all up and running smoothly. Few problems with Nuke Sentinel (of my own creation Wink but worked those out.)

the only problem I am having is that news articles appearing on the main page have a "broken" image icon (white box with X)

When you right click on the image you are shown a path similar to…

http://2mcabre.com/images/topics/

I tracked down where the image is being called from, its in the Modules-Topic-index.php file. But not knowing enough about PHP, I cannot tell if this code is calling the image correctly. I get no image in any of the various themes I have.

if (@file_exists("themes/$ThemeSel/images/topics/$topicimage")) {
$t_image = "themes/$ThemeSel/images/topics/$topicimage";
} else {
$t_image = "$tipath$topicimage";
}

Things I have tried that have not worked.

Based on the above I thought to create a "topics" folder in each "images" folder for all the various themes. No luck. (yes I put images in and even named them topic.gif)

So then I created "topics" folders in EVERY images folder to see if it would work. Nadda.

So I am wondering if the above code is incorrect and that its not actually calling an image, but only the image path?

If anyone has any ideas, I greatly appreciate it. I know I am not the only person to have this problem, but there have been no helpful replies at other forums, mostly "Yeah I got the same thing" replies."

My site URL is

http://2mcabre.com/

Server Stats… (dont know if this helps any…)

Apache version 1.3.33 (Unix)
PERL version 5.8.5
PHP version 4.3.10
MySQL version 4.0.22-standard

I noticed a lot of views on this, but no replies!

Lets just say that the fix is extremely simple! (Jon is laughing hysterically)

There is nothing wrong with your install, no problem with the script or anything.

So why don't you get a picture instead of the broken image X?

Simple. It was brought to my attention by a visitor that when they tried to submit a "News" piece they could not because I had not created any TOPICS!

So… Simply go into your admin panel, click on the TOPICS button and create some topics! When you do you will be able to "Choose" any image that is inside the images/topic folder to display when that topic is chosen.

To fix those submissions that are already there? Simply edit them and assign a topic to them!

Problem fixed!

movienews2.gif (for example) is not a gif file. It's a psd file Smile It has an incorrect extension name.

Not a problem! Therein lies the secret to "true" learning!

What is it that Sherlock Holmes said? Something like…

Eliminate the obvious, whats left will point to your culprit.
